Peugeot Motorcycles officially in Malaysia, launches 4 stylish scooter models

Aveta International has announced the arrival of the French motorcycle brand, Peugeot Motorcycles in the Malaysian market.

In conjunction with this introduction, four scooter models were launched simultaneously, consisting of:

  • XP400 GT – RM43,990
  • Django Classic 150 – RM14,990
  • Django Cafe Racer 150 – RM16,990
  • Speedfight 4+ – RM9,990

Steven Lim, Managing Director of Aveta International Group, confirmed that several models (including the Django and Speedfight 4+) will be assembled as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) under the Aveta Eco 5 initiative.

Throughout 2026, Peugeot Motorcycles Malaysia aims to open 10 to 15 exclusive dealerships in various urban locations.

The first flagship experience center, located in Bukit Tambun, Penang, will open on May 9, followed by locations in Johor Bahru and the Klang Valley as early as June 2026.

2026 Subaru Crosstrek officially launched in Malaysia – priced at RM190,788

TC Subaru Sdn Bhd has officially launched the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek for the local market.

This fully imported unit (CBU) from Japan is available at a price of RM190,788, excluding insurance.

Power Specifications

The third generation of the Subaru Crosstrek (previously known as the XV) has been available in the global market since 2022.

In Malaysia, only one variant is offered: the Crosstrek 2.0i-S EyeSight.

It is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine producing 156 PS at 6,000 rpm and torque of 196 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

Power is transmitted to all wheels through a Lineartronic CVT transmission and a Symmetrical AWD system.

The Crosstrek is also equipped with SI Drive driving mode and a dual-function X-Mode.

Dimensions

The Crosstrek measures 4,480 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm.

The ground clearance is 220 mm.

The cargo space can reach up to 1,261 liters when the second-row seats are folded down.

Exterior Features

The Subaru Crosstrek features a MacPherson strut suspension in the front and a double wishbone setup in the rear.

In terms of appearance, the 2026 Crosstrek is equipped with automatic LED headlights, front and rear LED fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch aluminum wheels, and a sunroof.

Its aggressive look is enhanced by protective plastic cladding around all four wheel arches, a roof spoiler, and roof rails.

Interior Features

Inside the cabin, the Crosstrek is fitted with leather upholstery covering the steering wheel, gear knob, and seats.

The driver’s seat features 10-way adjustments and lumbar support.

MG Motor Malaysia celebrates 2nd anniversary and positive growth in Q1 2026

In conjunction with its second anniversary, MG Motor Malaysia is celebrating a stellar performance for the year 2026.

MGS5 EV CKD Launches

In March, MG Motor marked an important milestone with the Launch of the MGS5 EV in the locally assembled (CKD) version at the EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) facility in Melaka.

The CKD version of the MGS5 EV is now available in the Malaysian market at a price of RM116,900.

This electric SUV has received a power upgrade, with the rear-drive electric motor capable of generating up to 202 hp and 350 Nm of torque.

PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) has announced the arrival of the latest Audi Q5 SUV model for the local market.

The sales prices for this third-generation SUV are as follows:

Same engine, different tuning

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N & Ioniq 6 N now open for bookings – prices starting from RM450,000

Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has announced the opening of bookings for two high-performance electric models: the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N.

This marks the brand’s entry into the high-performance electric mobility segment in Malaysia.

Here are the estimated prices for both models:

  • Hyundai Ioniq 5 N – from RM450,000
  • Hyundai Ioniq 6 N – from RM460,000

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

This is the top variant of the Ioniq 5 compact crossover, powered by two electric motors producing 609 PS and 740 Nm.

It also features the N Grin Boost mode, which can boost these figures to 650 PS and 770 Nm, allowing acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds.

The maximum speed is limited to 260 km/h.

The 84 kWh battery pack allows for a driving range of up to 448 km (WLTP data).

Notable features of the Ioniq 5 N include:

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has announced a very promising start for the new Mitsubishi Xforce model.

Less than a month after its launch on April 8, 2026, a total of 900 units have been delivered to customers by the end of April.

Takashi Sakamaki, Chief Executive Officer of MMM, stated that this extraordinary response demonstrates customers’ confidence in the Mitsubishi brand and the new model.

Dunlop begins a new chapter in Malaysia, showcasing EV-ready tyres

Dunlop has announced that it is opening a new chapter in Malaysia with Toyotsu Binter Malaysia Sdn Bhd (TBM) appointed as its exclusive distributor.

Located at the Malaysia Autoshow 2026, Dunlop also unveiled its new direction, focusing on readiness for the era of electrification.

Strengthening Presence in Malaysia

Dunlop has been established in Malaysia since the 1960s.

Proton e.MAS 5 gets new Jade Green colour

Pro-Net, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Proton has announced a new colour for the Proton e.MAS 5, named Jade Green.

Auto China 2026: Jaecoo J5 with SHS-H hybrid system, coming to Malaysia?

Also catching our attention at the Beijing Auto Show 2026 was the B-segment SUV, the Jaecoo J5 in its SHS-H version.

For your information, SHS-H refers to the Super Hybrid System that does not require charging like the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version.

Powertrain Unit

The SHS-H system consists of a 1.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor and a 1.83 kWh battery.

In total, it can produce 221 hp and 295 Nm of torque, with a driving range of up to 950 km.

Exterior and Interior Features

In terms of appearance, there is not much difference between the J5 SHS-H model and the standard J5.

It still maintains the stylish Range Rover design, complemented by aerodynamic 18-inch rims.

The cabin features appear to be the same as those offered in the J5 ICE model, including an LCD screen and a vertical infotainment display.

Coming to Malaysia?

We have been informed that Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia plans to introduce this model to complement the existing J5 offerings.

More information is expected to be revealed ahead of the official launch, which is anticipated to take place this year.

Auto China 2026: Omoda C7 to join OJ Malaysia this year

Another SUV model showcased at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show is the Omoda O7.

This SUV is confirmed to enter the Malaysian market under the name C7.

This means it will be positioned between the Omoda C4 and the Omoda C9, which have been on sale since December 2024.

Powertrain Unit

At the Beijing Auto Show, the Omoda C7 displayed is the SHS-P variant, referring to its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system.

According to CarNewsChina, this SUV is powered by a hybrid 1.5 TGDi engine with an emission-free range of 95 km and an overall driving range of 1,250 km.

For the J7 PHEV, the SHS system features:

  • 1.5-liter TGDi engine with 156 PS/220 Nm
  • Electric motor with 204 PS/310 Nm
  • 18.3 kWh battery
  • Emission-free driving range of 88 km

Do you remember the unit that was previously showcased in Malaysia?

The Omoda C7 is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine producing 197 PS and 290 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission.

Dimensions

The Omoda C7 is a compact/mid-size SUV, measuring approximately 4,621 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, and 1,673 mm in height.

The wheelbase is around 2,700 mm.

Exterior

From the front, the Omoda C7 features sharp, elongated headlights, complemented by a bumper opening adorned with honeycomb elements.

Similar to the Omoda C4, the rear lights of the C7 also incorporate graphic elements within a full-length housing.

Additionally, this SUV is equipped with two-tone 20-inch wheels and a floating roof design.

Cabin

Upon entering, you are greeted with a pair of gaming-style seats wrapped in leather.

The steering wheel is also said to be inspired by the wood finish of the PlayStation 5.

Other features include:

  • A central screen measuring 15.6 inches that can be repositioned
  • Sony audio system
  • Voice command and gesture control functionalities

Auto China 2026: Omoda C4 set to enter Malaysia

At the Beijing Auto Show 2026, Omoda | Jaecoo showcased the new B-segment SUV model, the Omoda 04 in its actual production form.

It is expected to enter the Malaysian market as the Omoda C4, positioned below the C9 model.

Powertrain Options

The Omoda C4 will offer up to three powertrain variants.

The base version is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine, the same as that found in the Tiggo Cross model, generating 156 PS and 210 Nm of torque.

There is also a hybrid version of the Omoda C4, known as the SHS-H, which refers to a self-charging hybrid system.

In the Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid model, this setup consists of:

  • A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated Atkinson-cycle engine producing 102 PS and 125 Nm
  • Two electric motors delivering 204 PS and 310 Nm
  • Direct Hybrid Transmission (DHT)
  • A 1.8 kWh LFP battery pack

Finally, an electric (BEV) variant was showcased at a separate event.

Not much information is available about this model, but it is highly likely to use a setup similar to the Omoda E5.

Exterior Features

The Omoda C4 SUV features a distinctly aggressive appearance, designed especially for the younger audience.

Notable exterior features include:

  • Separate-type headlights
  • Animal claw-style daytime running lights (DRL)
  • Angular protective plastics on the wheel arches
  • Tail lights with flashy graphics

The standard version of the Omoda C4 comes with sporty 18-inch rims, while the HEV and EV versions are equipped with more aerodynamic 18-inch wheels.

Aggressive elements are also integrated into the cabin to give it a sporty feel, aligning with the youthful spirit.

Notable cabin features include:

In Malaysia, OJ sold over 17,800 vehicles in 2025, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 153 percent, and is expected to surpass a cumulative total of 25,000 units since its debut in 2024.

Globally:

  • OJ is rapidly expanding in 16 European markets, with sales exceeding 220,000 units in two years.
  • It captured over 2 percent market share in the UK within nine months and ranked in the top ten within 17 months.
  • It emerged as the most recognized brand among dealers in Spain, achieving a satisfaction score of 9.9/10 in the 2025 VCON survey.

Auto China 2026: Chery Tiggo V makes its debut

At Auto China 2026 in Beijing, Chery Group unveiled its new SUV model, the Tiggo V to the public.

This marks Chery’s first family SUV that can be customized based on current needs.

The Tiggo V boasts a ground clearance of 220 mm and a water wading capability of up to 700 mm.

Three-in-One Package

The Chery Tiggo V combines the stability of an SUV, the comfort of an MPV, and the practicality of a pickup truck into one comprehensive package.

According to Chery, the ‘V’ in Tiggo V stands for three values:

  • Versatility
  • Value
  • Victory

With a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, the Tiggo V offers a spacious cabin with a three-row, seven-seat configuration.

Additionally, the second-row seats can be adjusted and folded for various configurations, including a sleeping mode.

The cabin features up to 42 storage compartments, air conditioning vents for all three rows, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an N95 PM0.3 cabin air filtration system.

Transform into a Pickup Truck

As a further innovation, the Tiggo V can be transformed into a pickup truck!

With an easily detachable rear structure, the Tiggo V provides larger cargo space, complemented by wide doors for easy access.

There is also support for accessories such as rooftop tents and additional storage for various outdoor activities.

Chery Super Hybrid System

The Tiggo V is powered by the sixth generation of Chery’s Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain, delivering a smooth driving experience and responsive performance.

The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version offers fuel consumption as low as 6 liters per 100 km, while the pure internal combustion engine (ICE) version boasts 7.84 liters per 100 km.

Safety Features

The Chery Tiggo V features a body construction made from 76 percent aluminum and high-strength steel.

Safety is enhanced by an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that includes:

  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
  • Automatic Parking Assistance (APA)
  • Remote Parking Assistance (RPA)

2026 Yamaha TMAX Tech Max comes with new Crystal Graphite colour – priced at RM75,888

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn Bhd has announced a new colour option, Crystal Graphite for the Yamaha TMAX Tech Max 2026.

This maxi scooter in the new colour is priced at RM75,888, excluding registration fees and insurance.

The Yamaha TMAX Tech Max is still powered by a liquid-cooled, DOHC 562 cc twin-cylinder engine, delivering 46.9 hp at 7,000 rpm and 55 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm.

The suspension system features telescopic forks at the front, complemented by a single shock absorber at the rear.

Additionally, it comes equipped with several premium features, including:

  • Cruise control
  • Traction Control System (TCS)
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • Communication Control Unit (CCU) compatible with the Y-Connect app

The fuel tank has a capacity of 15 liters, while the seat height is approximately 800 mm.

In addition to the Crystal Graphite colour, buyers can still choose the Ceramic Grey option.

Zeekr 8X: PHEV SUV with 900V technology, starting from RM190,000 in China

Zeekr has recently launched the new 8X model for the Chinese market, a full-size plug-in hybrid SUV (PHEV).

Positioned below the 9X model, the Zeekr 8X is priced starting at 329,800 yuan (approximately RM191,000), while the premium version is priced at 473,800 yuan (about RM275,000).

Specifications & Technology

The Zeekr 8X is built on the advanced Haohan-S 900V hybrid platform, featuring a 2.0-liter turbo engine paired with either a dual or tri-motor electric configuration.

The dual-motor version produces a remarkable 885 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds.

In contrast, the tri-motor variant delivers an impressive 1,381 hp, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.96 seconds.

Its 70 kWh battery enables an emission-free driving range of up to 410 km, with a total range that can reach 1,416 km.

With 6C fast charging technology, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 9 minutes.

Driving Dynamics

The Zeekr 8X features an advanced digital chassis system combined with adaptive air suspension and active damping control.

This system supports rapid torque distribution and adjustable ride height.

Additionally, it includes advanced driver assistance features powered by a LiDAR unit and dual Nvidia Drive Thor-U processing chips, capable of processing up to 1,400 TOPS.

The system supports highway navigation assistance and automatic parking functions.

Dimensions

The Zeekr 8X measures 5,100 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,069 mm.

Although smaller than the 9X model, the Zeekr 8X is still classified as a full-size SUV.

This SUV also retains Zeekr’s latest design language, featuring elements such as a large vertical front grille, separate headlights, and a LiDAR unit mounted on the roof.

Cabin

The cabin of the Zeekr 8X includes features such as (depending on the variant):

Perodua and UTM collaborate to implement the xEV Engineering Program

Perodua recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for the implementation of the Perodua-UTM xEV Engineering Program.

This five-year strategic collaboration focuses on the empowerment of human capital and research in electric vehicle technology (xEV).

Special Program Under Perodua’s Supervision

Every year, 10 to 15 outstanding students from the Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) in Electrical Engineering program will be selected for this special program.

The program, lasting for one and a half years, will commence in the second semester of their third year of study.

Among the benefits that participating students will receive include:

  • The opportunity to undergo a 10-week industrial internship at Perodua.
  • The chance to obtain an international Level 3 certification from the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
  • The Final Year Project (FYP) will be jointly supervised by Perodua’s expert engineers.

Perodua Contributes Two QV-E Vehicles for Learning Purposes

To support this program, Perodua will donate technical equipment for use in the Perodua-UTM xEV Engineering Laboratory.

Additionally, two units of the Perodua QV-E electric vehicle will also be provided for practical learning purposes.

Long-Term Investment

UTM’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Shafry Abdul Rahim, described this collaboration as a paradigm shift in bridging the gap between academia and industry needs.

“Through the establishment of the Perodua-UTM xEV Engineering Laboratory, equipped with advanced technology, our graduates will possess a high competitive edge.

“The integration of battery electric vehicle (BEV) elective engineering courses into the curriculum and access to the latest simulation technology, such as Hardware in the Loop (HIL) systems, will ensure that UTM graduates remain relevant and ‘future-ready’,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Perodua, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad, stated that this initiative is a proactive step by the company to build a sustainable and competitive xEV ecosystem at the global level.

“This collaboration is not just about technology transfer; rather, it is a long-term investment to cultivate ‘future’ engineers skilled in EV engineering.

“With direct guidance from our engineers, students will be exposed to the real dynamics of the modern automotive industry,” he said.

Unlike the standard Cayenne, this coupé version comes with a combination of a V6 engine and a 177 PS electric motor, producing a total output of 519 PS.
