Several new body kit projects will be showcased by leading body kit manufacturer DAMD at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon this month.
One that caught our attention is the Renonator body kit, which transforms the Honda Stepwgn minivan into a distinctly American-style van.
The original minimalist look of the Stepwgn has been replaced with a more stylish front, starting with four overlapping rectangular halogen headlights and separate turn signals.
The grille structure is also larger, accompanied by a flatter hood and an intentionally unpainted additional structure on the front bumper.
The retro elements of the Renonator are further enhanced by the presence of wood decals on the sides, Dean Cross Country chrome disc rims, and amber position lights on the roof.
All four corners of the wheel arches are fitted with Toyo Tires Open Country A/T tires.
Interestingly, DAMD claims that this kit can be installed without major modifications while still retaining the original Honda emblem complete with ADAS sensors.
You can also get a closer look at this American-style minivan at DAMD’s booth at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, which will take place later this month.
Kei cars typically feature a cuter design, suited to their small size.
However, leading body kit manufacturer DAMD has come up with an idea to give kei cars a more aggressive, rugged, and stylish appearance.
For instance, the “Dali” body kit (shortened from Dakar Rally) successfully transforms the cute Mitsubishi Delica Mini into a retro machine inspired by the 1980s Pajero model.
If you notice, the new headlights resemble the design of the first-generation Pajero. Additionally, it features a square grille structure, complete with the original Mitsubishi emblem, which also houses various ADAS sensors.
The original front bumper structure of the Delica Mini has been retained, including the “DELICA” lettering and original air intakes, but it has been enhanced with special decorative elements finished in glossy black.
Importantly, all these additions do not compromise the original dimensions of the Delica Mini and still comply with the kei car regulations set by the Japanese government.
DAMD is also offering a custom side decal set, 15-inch Cantabile alloy wheels shod with Toyo Tires Open Country R/T tires, and, of course, a roof rack.
Accessories for the cabin are still in the development phase. The complete package price will be announced later.
This model will be officially showcased at DAMD’s booth at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026, taking place this month.
Do you still miss the Honda Jazz, which is no longer offered here?
For your information, the fourth generation of the Honda Fit (or Jazz) has been available in the European and Japanese markets since 2020.
It features a cuter design, yet with smaller dimensions compared to the City Hatchback.
Following the introduction of the facelift version in 2022, the Honda Fit is expected to receive its second facelift update for the 2026 model year.
Based on images from the Autohome website, the facelifted Fit now showcases a front end reminiscent of models produced by Vinfast.
In addition to the separated headlight units, it also features a thinner grille structure and relatively small air intake openings.
At the rear, the lamp design remains largely unchanged, except for the bumper which now includes additional structures resembling a diffuser, contributing to an elongated appearance for the Fit.
Autohome also reports that the facelifted Fit will come equipped with a larger infotainment screen, complete with support for Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, and Carlife.
The 2026 facelifted Honda Fit is expected to retain its 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine, producing 124 PS and 145 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission.
The sixth generation of the Nissan Serena minivan (code C28) has been available in the market (except Malaysia) since 2022.
With three years having passed, it’s time for Nissan to update this model, coinciding with its 35th anniversary to be celebrated next year.
Several changes have been introduced in this facelifted version of the Nissan Serena:
Exterior
Compared to the pre-facelift model, the Nissan Serena facelift features a new front grille with an asymmetrical V-pattern design, complemented by newly designed alloy wheels.
Additionally, three new exterior colors are offered: Moonbow Blue, Aqua Mint, and Deep Ocean Blue.
Infotainment Powered by Google
For the first time, the Serena is equipped with the NissanConnect infotainment system powered by Google.
This system supports Google Maps, Google Assistant, and the Google Play Store.
In response to customer demand, Nissan has also added a memory function for the e-Pedal feature, allowing the system to remember the previously set operation modes before the vehicle is turned off.
Safety Enhancements
Safety features have also been improved, particularly the Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM), which includes 3D viewing, wide front views, and dual side views when the side mirrors are folded.
The Nissan Serena also includes a reminder function for drivers who may forget to lock the doors, turn off the hazard lights, close the windows, or check the rear seats.
Premium Autech Line Variant
Nissan offers a more premium Autech Line variant, which features:
Metallic finishing on the side mirror housings
16-inch dark metallic silver alloy wheels
Dark chrome finishing on the front grille
Tailor Fit upholstery that is softer and more comfortable
Outdoor-Friendly Multi Box Variant
In addition to seven- and eight-seater variants, the Nissan Serena is also available in a Multi Box variant.
This version features a seating arrangement that accommodates five people at a time, with the third-row seats replaced by a large-capacity storage box.
This storage box can be used as a space for storing items, a bench, or a foldable table.
The area can also be converted into a sleeping space, where users can lay down a mattress made from waterproof Cordura material.
Engine Options: 2.0L NA or 1.5L e-Power
In Japan, the Nissan Serena comes with a choice of a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated (NA) engine that produces 150 PS and 200 Nm of torque.
There is also an e-Power option, which includes a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that acts as a power generator for the 163 PS and 315 Nm electric motor.
The facelifted Nissan Serena is priced starting from 2,856,700 yen (approximately RM74,161).
Honda Motor is planning to introduce an electric version of its N-Box around 2027 to compete with the BYD-made kei car, according to a report by Nikkei Asia.
The Honda N-Box was first launched in Japan in 2011 and has now gone through three generations in the Japanese market.
It has been one of the best-selling vehicles in Japan for three consecutive years, with over 200,000 units sold in 2024.
Honda has not yet decided on the specifications or pricing for the N-Box EV model.
It is clear, however, that the N-Box EV will not entirely replace the role of the internal combustion engine (ICE) version.
For reference, Honda Japan has a similar kei car product, the N-Van e: which is aimed at commercial use and has been on sale since 2024.
The N-Van e: features a single electric motor with a power output of 64 PS and 152 Nm, and offers a driving range of 245 km on a full charge (WLTC data).
In Japan, new electric vehicle (EV) sales accounted for only 2 percent of total vehicle sales throughout 2024.
Of that total, more than 40 percent was dominated by the kei car twins, the Nissan Sakura EV and the Mitsubishi eK X EV.
Both of these EV models share specifications, including an electric motor producing 64 PS/195 Nm, a 20 kWh lithium-ion battery, and a driving range of up to 180 km (WLTC data).
Nissan Sakura EV & Mitsubishi eK X EV
In addition to Honda, Suzuki Motor is also planning to introduce a kei car EV by 2026.
The BYD Racco is a kei car specially developed by BYD for the Japanese market.
Unveiled for the first time at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, the BYD Racco features the following:
Dimensions: 3,395 mm x 1,475 mm x 1,800 mm
Sliding doors on both the left and right
20 kWh LFP battery pack
Driving range of 180 km (WLTC data)
The arrival of the BYD Racco clearly demonstrates that the prominent Chinese brand is serious about producing a vehicle that complies with the dimensional regulations set for the kei car segment in Japan.

The total power output reaches 212 hp and 315 Nm, combined with an e-CVT transmission and front-wheel drive system.
For reference, the Honda Stepwgn e:HEV has already entered the neighboring market of Thailand, with estimated prices starting from 1.7 million Baht (RM222,000).
Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia has announced a new milestone, having delivered a total of 2,000 electric vehicles within a year.
Fifty units of the Zeekr 7X were handed over to their respective owners during an event held last weekend.
The 2,000th unit was delivered to its owner, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza.
According to Eddy Lu, General Manager of Zeekr Intelligent Technology Malaysia, “Reaching 2,000 owners in just one year is no easy feat, and it reflects the trust Malaysians have in Zeekr.”
“We will continue to enhance the quality of our sales and after-sales services to ensure that every journey with Zeekr is synonymous with luxury and peace of mind.”
Zeekr Malaysia is also striving to expand its presence across the country.
Starting January 2026, Zeekr will open new dealership branches in Johor Bahru, Melaka, Ampang, and Ipoh.
By the end of 2026, Zeekr will have a network of dealerships consisting of 18 showrooms, including over 10 Body & Paint Centers nationwide.

Perodua is increasing the number of sales outlets that can collect QV-E bookings to 34 selected locations in Peninsular Malaysia from its original 9 outlets in order to assist customers book their first Perodua EV.
“We have received healthy interest from potential customers from across the country, and we are now expanding our reach to include more locations so that our customers can book test drives and reserve their very own Perodua QV-E,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said.
He said that Perodua is including manual bookings to simplify the process for its customers.
“Originally, we requested our customers to make their booking through our super-app, P Circle, but some of our customers asked to include the normal option of booking collection,” Dato’ Sri Zainal said.
He said that Perodua is also looking to simplify its terms and conditions for its battery leasing programme through an infographic explanation.
The BAAS is an independent service that is aimed to protect the customer and the environment. It charges a RM275 subscription (all-in and final monthly price) fee per month for 108 months (9 years).
On the payment amount, Perodua has capped the subscription to RM275 to ensure the customers are protected from future price hikes.
In addition, the electric battery will be wholly maintained by Perodua as part of the package designed to give peace of mind even beyond the 9-year period.
Perodua will also provide the administration assist in transferring the BAAS subscription to a new owner.
For example: if the current owner wishes to sell their Perodua QV-E, the Perodua’s Pre-Owned Vehicle Department will de-list the original owner’s name from the subscription programme and register the new owner.
The 108-payment requirement is also transferable, meaning if the current owner has already paid 50 months for the plan, then the new owner only needs to continue the 58 months remaining under the same plan.
Dato’ Sri Zainal said that the BAAS programme is Perodua’s commitment towards the safety and convenience of Perodua’s customers, while at the same time helping to preserve the environment by taking responsibility of the battery.

Now, I not only have a brand-new SUV, but also a newly won Civic 1.5L RS in my driveway alongside my City. My family is thrilled, and we can’t wait for our next family road trip. The Virtual S1K race offered the community an opportunity to experience the endurance racing format, paralleling the actual event at the Sepang International Circuit.
Did you know that Audi’s first five-cylinder engine debuted in 1976 with the Audi 100?
In celebration of its upcoming 50th anniversary next year, a group of Audi apprentices from Neckarsulm, Germany, has created a special project named the Audi GT50.
The project took six months to complete under the supervision of instructors and was personally monitored by Timo Engler, the Head of the Automotive Technology, Logistics, and Business Management Training unit.
At first glance, the Audi GT50 draws heavily from the design heritage of Audi’s racing history, such as the Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO.
Beneath its futuristic appearance, the Audi GT50 actually started as an RS3 sedan before the entire exterior was stripped away to accommodate body panels made from lightweight fiberglass-reinforced plastic.
The rear features a large diffuser and spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics.
The roof is sourced from an actual Audi 80.
For the cabin space, the team removed all original RS3 equipment and replaced it with genuine racing gear.
In fact, they even constructed their own roll cage, which took approximately two weeks to complete.
Powered by a 2.5-liter TFSI five-cylinder engine, this vehicle is capable of generating up to 394 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
In addition to the Audi GT50, the group of apprentices from the Audi Neckarsulm facility has previously developed unique concept models such as the Audi RS6 GTO and NSU Prinz.

At the Japan Mobility Show 2025 held a few months ago, Toyota confirmed that the Century will become a distinct ultra-luxury brand, no longer overshadowed by the Toyota name.
Toyota also showcased the latest concept model, the Century Coupe—a two-door grand tourer with crossover elements.
Details about the new model have not yet been finalized, but Toyota has confirmed it will not be offered in a full-time electric vehicle (EV) version.
According to a report from CarExpert, Takashi Uehara, president of Toyota’s powertrain unit, mentioned that the Century Coupe will feature a traditional engine.
“We have yet to decide on the type of engine to be installed in the model,” he stated.
“There are many combinations available; however, development time has been reduced, so this will happen soon.”
As part of its multipathway strategy, Toyota is also developing a new generation of internal combustion engines to meet various global needs.
In addition to a four-cylinder setup, the modular engine design allows Toyota to adjust the number of cylinders to suit specific models, such as a six-cylinder inline engine or an entirely new V8 engine.
This was confirmed by Takashi Uehara himself during a private briefing with Asian media at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
In Japan, the new generation Century sedan is currently powered by a 5.0-liter V8 hybrid engine (code 2UR-FSE) with a total output of 425 hp.
Meanwhile, the Century SUV is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine (code 2GR-FXS) featuring a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system with two electric motors, producing a total output of 406 hp.

Continental Tyre Malaysia has announced a Tyre Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty for all its passenger cars, SUVs and 4×4 tyres, reinforcing its commitment to customer assurance and product quality. This warranty applies to all Continental, General Tire, and Viking branded passenger cars, SUVs and 4×4 tyres.
This enhanced warranty provides coverage for the full operational lifespan of the tyres, reflecting the brand’s 100% confidence in the durability, reliability and performance on the road.
Replacing the previous five-year manufacturer’s warranty, the new Tyre Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty for the eligible tyres underscores the brand’s unwavering confidence in its engineering excellence while ensuring every tyre meets the highest standards of material and workmanship.
“We don’t just build tyres. We build confidence. This warranty is not just a promise, it reflects the rigorous quality control and innovation that goes into everything we make” said Andrea Somorova, Managing Director of Continental Tyre Malaysia.
It covers protection against manufacturing defects throughout the tyre’s operational lifespan. However, damages resulting from external factors beyond Continental’s control, such as punctures, cuts, or impacts damage caused by road hazard, are excluded from this warranty.
By offering protection for the entire operational lifespan of the tyre, Continental aims to provide Malaysian drivers with peace of mind and maximum confidence in all their journeys with Continental. Most importantly, this new Tyre Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty is also retrospectively extended to all eligible passenger cars, SUVs and 4×4 tyres purchased prior to this announcement.
To provide customers with additional confidence, Continental continues to offer protection under its Total Confidence Plan (TCP) Road Hazard Warranty, which provides 12 months of coverage from the date of purchase against unexpected road damages, when purchases are registered via the Conti TCP app.
