Toyota GR Yaris MORIZO RR receives input from Akio Toyoda, 100 units for the Japanese market

The Toyota GR Yaris has not been a perfect hot hatch since its initial introduction.

This is because there is still room for innovation and improvement by Toyota Gazoo Racing to enhance the driving experience.

Building on the experience gained from the 2025 Nurburgring 24 Hours, Toyota Gazoo Racing has introduced the GR Yaris MORIZO RR, developed in collaboration with Master Driver Akio Toyoda — better known as Morizo.

In terms of exterior features, the GR Yaris MORIZO RR comes equipped with a larger fixed rear wing made of carbon fiber, a front spoiler, side skirts, a carbon fiber engine hood, yellow brake calipers, Matte Bronze rims, a MORIZO RR emblem, and Morizo’s signature on the windshield.

The cabin features an exclusive GR suede-wrapped steering wheel with a smaller diameter.

If you notice, the layout of the function buttons is different from that of the existing GR Yaris; this setup is more similar to what is used in the GR Yaris Rally2 rally car.

Finally, the GR-Four drive mode selector now includes a special “PUSH MORIZO” function, replacing the Gravel mode found in the standard GR Yaris.

In this mode, developed in partnership with MORIZO, the power distribution is set to 50:50 between the front and rear wheels.

The driving aspects have also been enhanced with suspension settings recalibrated based on the road surface at Nurburgring, ensuring a balance between comfort and sporty handling.

The Electric Power Steering (EPS) has also been recalibrated by GAZOO Racing.

The Toyota GR Yaris MORIZO RR will be produced in a limited run of 100 units for the Japanese market, and applications can be submitted through the official TGR app, the GR App.

An additional 100 units will also be offered in select markets across Europe.

2026 Proton X70 now with i-GT 1.5 turbo engine – starting from RM99,800

Proton has officially launched the updated 2026 X70 SUV for the local market.

In terms of exterior design, the new X70 appears almost identical to what was offered two years ago.

However, the significant change is the replacement of the original 3-cylinder engine with a 4-cylinder i-GT 1.5-liter turbo engine.

This new engine delivers a power output of 181 PS at 5,500 rpm and a torque of 290 Nm at 2,000-3,500 rpm, paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission.

Proton claims that the fuel consumption rate is approximately 6.9 liters per 100 km, which is 5.5 percent more economical compared to the previous X70.

The NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels have improved by 4.5 percent, thanks to the use of a geared timing chain that is said to be 25.24 percent quieter than the standard timing chain.

Proton has also addressed the X70’s handling and comfort by enhancing the steering response and improving the ratio, followed by a retuned suspension.

Safety features included are six airbags, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, and ADAS functions specific for Premium variant that encompass:

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Lane Departure Prevention (LDP)
  • Lane Keeping Assist (LCC)
  • Lane Change Assist (LCA)
  • Door Open Warning (DOW)
  • High Beam Control (IHBC)
  • Traffic Sign Information (TSI)
  • Rear Collision Warning (RCW)
  • Rear Traffic Cross Alert (RTCA)

The cabin of the 2026 X70 still offers the same features as the previous model, such as a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, along with the “Hi Proton” voice command feature.

However, it is unfortunate that some previously available features, like Nappa leather upholstery and a panoramic sunroof have been removed.

The 2026 Proton X70 Premium variant continues to feature the original 19-inch wheel design, although the Continental UC6 tires have been replaced with Giti Comfort F50 tires (225/55R19).

The selling price (after RM7,000 rebate for the first 1,500 units, valid until March 31) starts from RM99,800 for the Executive variant to RM112,800 for the Premium variant.

Result Japan unveils retro body kit for Toyota GT86, complete with pop-up headlights!

Pop-up headlights—also known as retractable headlights—were among the features that made cars from the 1980s and 1990s look exceptionally cool on the road.

However, due to stricter safety regulations, vehicles equipped with such headlights have gradually disappeared from the market.

For those who miss this feature, a Japanese company has the answer.

The Neo86 body kit transforms the front end of the Toyota GT86 with a retro-style angular bumper, a simplified engine hood, and most importantly: fully operational pop-up headlights!

Additionally, the kit includes separate turn signals and yellow fog lights, which are essential accessories for the AE86 tofu shop cars.

Completing the retro look of the GT86 are wide fender flares, a ducktail spoiler, aftermarket LED taillights, and black Watanabe wheels.

The Neo86 kit will be showcased at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon and pre-orders will open at the same time.

In good news, Result Japan will offer the Neo86 kit not only for the domestic market but will also expand availability worldwide.

This achievement establishes Toyota as the first and only non-national automotive brand in Malaysia to record over 100,000 vehicle sales for four consecutive years, a milestone never before achieved by a non-national automotive brand in the Malaysian market.

In a year defined by aggressive new entrants and evolving mobility narratives, UMWT’s consistent performance reflects more than market momentum, it reflects enduring brand preference and loyalty across generations of Malaysian drivers. From first-time buyers to long-standing Toyota households, consistent demand across the brand’s diverse lineup underscores Toyota’s reputation for vehicles that Malaysians rely on not just at the point of purchase, but throughout years of ownership.

This sustained success is driven by Toyota’s Multi-Pathway Approach, which recognises that mobility needs differ across communities, usage patterns, and infrastructure readiness. By offering a balanced portfolio spanning efficient internal combustion engines, hybrid electrification, and future-ready technologies, Toyota continues to advance its commitment to Mobility for All, ensuring progress is inclusive and grounded in the realities of the Malaysian market.

“Achieving over 100,000 vehicle sales for four consecutive years is a meaningful milestone for Toyota and a celebration of the trust Malaysians place in us,” said Datuk Ravindran K, President of UMW Toyota Motor.

“Sustaining this level of performance in a highly competitive and fast-changing market reflects the strength of our long-term strategy, our investment in local capabilities, and our deep understanding of how Malaysians use their vehicles. Guided by our Best in Town philosophy and a Customer First mindset, we remain committed to delivering mobility solutions that are practical, inclusive, and reliable, ensuring Toyota continues to serve Malaysians today and for generations to come.”

Building on the momentum of 2025, UMWT will continue expanding its network, strengthening service excellence, and introducing initiatives aligned with evolving customer expectations. As the brand closes the year on a historic high, Toyota remains firmly focused on shaping Malaysia’s mobility future through solutions that are trusted, inclusive, and built to last.

As part of its year-end initiatives, UMWT introduced the Toyota Extend Plan on 1 December 2025, reinforcing its Customer First commitment to long-term ownership confidence. The programme allows eligible customers to extend Toyota’s existing five-year warranty by up to three additional years, offering coverage of up to eight years depending on vehicle eligibility and package selection.

Available for selected Toyota models including Vios, Corolla Cross, Yaris, and Corolla, the Extended Warranty Plan offers both Basic and Premium coverage options. All new Kia vehicles in Malaysia come with a valid warranty of five years or a mileage limit of 150,000 km, whichever comes first.

To enhance owner confidence, KSM has also implemented the following measures:

  • A 15 percent reduction in the average price of genuine Kia spare parts.
  • The establishment of a dedicated spare parts warehouse in Shah Alam.

Additionally, KSM has established the Kia Circle customer loyalty program, which offers a cash rebate of RM6,000 to existing Kia owners for upgrading to a new Kia vehicle.

This program also extends to immediate family members, including parents, spouses, and children.

Additionally, KSM will be introducing Kia Professional, a corporate fleet and professional programme which offers exclusive concessions of up to 3 percent to members of professional bodies and major companies for individual vehicle purchases, along with tailored incentives for larger fleet purchases.

As a complement, KSM offers comprehensive protection through Kia Cares, an insurance program backed by Berjaya Sompo, Zurich, and Zurich Takaful.
