The product launch event, held recently, was attended by representatives from KPDN, distributors, media, influencers, and staff from both Ipone and MKA Group, the new official distributor of Ipone in Peninsular Malaysia.

According to Ravi Shankar, Managing Director of Specialty Lubricants Trading (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, “We are ushering Ipone into an exciting new journey with enhanced formulations and renewed packaging. We are confident that consumers will appreciate the comprehensive experience offered, the meticulous craftsmanship of the oils, and our uncompromising quality.”

Lastly, KSM aims to enhance its product lineup to ensure each product meets the needs of the Malaysian market.

According to Hyung Ho Kim, “Globally, Kia is the 9th largest automotive manufacturer in the world. Our focus is to move forward at a sustainable pace for the long term.

“Our goal is not just to become a rapidly growing brand but to be a brand that pays attention to customers, dealers, and the Malaysian automotive industry,” he explained.

Emily Lek stated, “This is a significant time for us to begin our re-entry into the Malaysian market as an independent entity.

“The brand is no longer represented by a distributor but is led by the parent company that fully controls our voice, values, and vision. With a robust system and a clear plan, we are ready to restore the true Kia brand experience.

For information, Malaysia houses the Kia Asia Pacific headquarters, serving as a strategic think tank for the Asia region.

Kia APAC oversees six subsidiaries, including Kia Sales Malaysia (KSM) and its manufacturing unit, Kia Malaysia.

2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB: EQB replacement with over 600 km range

Mercedes-Benz has announced the arrival of the all-new 2026 GLB-Class compact SUV, set to replace the first-generation GLB that has been on sale since 2019.

The 2026 GLB will also serve as the successor to the EQB, initially offering only an electric drive version for users.

Here are a few key facts you need to know:

1. Shared Platform with CLA

The 2026 GLB is built on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, the same one used for the CLA-Class sedan models.

It is the second model to emerge from the MMA platform, but with improved practicality.

2. Dimensions

This new generation of the SUV retains the iconic boxy shape of the GLB but with larger overall dimensions.

It now measures 4,732 mm in length, which is 98 mm longer than the previous GLB, with a width of 1,861 mm (+27 mm) and a height of 1,687 mm (-14 mm).

The wheelbase has been extended to 2,889 mm, which is 60 mm longer.

Due to these changes in dimensions, the new GLB offers a turning radius of 11.9 meters.

Cargo capacity starts at 480 liters (540 liters for the 5-seater version) and can be expanded to 1,605 liters (1,715 liters for the 5-seater version).

There is also a front trunk space of 127 liters.

3. Exterior

The exterior design of the new GLB follows a similar approach to modern Mercedes models like the CLA.

The front features smaller headlight units, star-shaped DRL graphics, and a full-width LED light bar connecting the two light housings.

The rear section is reminiscent of the EQXX Concept, with slim vertical light bars connected by a full-width LED light strip.

The star-shaped graphics also adorn the LED light bar.

4. Interior

No longer showcasing a rugged layout, the 2026 GLB now features the Mercedes Superscreen setup, which consists of three separate screens (a 10.25-inch cluster screen, a 14-inch infotainment screen, and a 14-inch passenger screen).

All screens operate using the fourth-generation MBUX system, which includes artificial intelligence capabilities.

In addition to a five-seat configuration, the GLB will also be available in a seven-seat version.

A panoramic electrochromic glass roof featuring an optional starry sky setting is also available.

5. Electric Drive

Initially, there will be two electric drive variants offered to users.

The base GLB 250+ with EQ Technology comes with a rear-wheel-drive electric motor producing 268 hp and 335 Nm (boosting to 454 Nm), achieving 0-100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds.

The 85 kWh battery pack allows for a range of 630 km on a single charge, supported by an 800-volt electrical architecture.

Meanwhile, the GLB 350 4Matic with EQ Technology adds an electric motor on the front axle, generating a total output of 349 hp and 515 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds.

The range is approximately 615 km, which is impressive for an all-wheel-drive model.

6. New Variants to Follow

Mercedes has also confirmed that a base-level electric version of the GLB will follow next year, along with three hybrid variants featuring 48-volt technology.

Lexus LFA returns as an electric supercar

For years, petrolheads and fans of the V10 engine’s roar have been fed updates on the arrival of a successor to the LFA.

Good news for you: the Lexus LFA has re-emerged as a concept supercar with a striking design suitable for road use.

Here are a few key facts you need to know about the Lexus LFA Concept:

1. Shares Chassis with the GR GT

The Lexus LFA Concept utilizes a lightweight and sturdy aluminum body frame, which is the same chassis used in the GR GT and GR GT3 models.

It offers advantages in terms of a low center of gravity, lightweight construction with high rigidity, and aerodynamic performance.

2. No V10 Engine

Unfortunately, the Lexus LFA Concept does not inherit the V10 engine that powered its predecessor and does not feature the more than 640 hp and 850 Nm V8 engine either.

Instead, it is a supercar equipped with a full-time electric powertrain.

Lexus (and Toyota) have yet to disclose details such as the number of motors, drive system, output, and battery capacity that will be installed in this LFA Concept.

3. Dimensions

The LFA Concept measures 4,690 mm in length, 2,040 mm in width, and 1,195 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,725 mm.

Compared to the LFA V10, the LFA Concept is 185 mm longer, 145 mm wider, and 25 mm lower, with a wheelbase that is 120 mm longer.

4. Exterior Features Elements from the LFA V10

Undoubtedly, the body shape of the Lexus LFA Concept appears more balanced and robust when gliding on the road.

It also incorporates some design elements from the LFA V10, such as the vented front hood and side air intakes.

At the Japan Mobility Show, Lexus showcased the active rear spoiler function on this model.

5. Driver-Focused Cabin

The LFA Concept promises the ideal driving position found in the GR GT and GR GT3 models.

However, unlike those two V8 supercars, the LFA Concept features a yoke-style steering wheel, accompanied by a rather unique driver display layout.

The gear shift lever is positioned on the steering column, and there are also large F-Mode and Custom buttons, along with the capability to adjust thrust and braking levels to meet driver preferences.

According to Lexus, the three letters “LFA” on this concept are not tied to an internal combustion engine supercar like its predecessor.

It now symbolizes a vehicle equipped with various advanced engineering technologies that should be preserved and passed down by engineers to future generations.

Previously, the Lexus LFA stood for the following:

  • L – Lexus
  • F – F-Sports (Lexus’s high-performance branch), also representing Fuji Speedway
  • A – Apex

What are your thoughts on the Lexus LFA Concept? Should it be offered as an electric supercar or equipped with an internal combustion engine?

Honda Malaysia shared the joy of its 25th anniversary celebration with the announcement of the first two lucky winners of its “Because of You” campaign.

The prizes of a City Hatchback RS and a WR-V RS were presented at a special appreciation event.

The lucky winner of the City Hatchback RS, Mr. Chin from Perak, entered the contest after purchasing a Platinum White Pearl Civic RS.

He said, “Owning a Civic has always been my dream as I am captivated by its striking appearance and powerful performance that stays true to the Civic DNA. Receiving my new car was already exciting, but winning the City Hatchback RS on top of that makes it even more special. I was shocked when they called to inform that I won – I thought it was scam! Now, I can’t wait to take both my Honda cars out on the road and enjoy the different driving experiences each one has to offer.”

The project has also received an official name: “Tensei,” which means “rebirth” in Japanese.

From the images provided, the original look of the NSX NA1 has been carefully preserved, featuring elements such as the pop-up headlights, the rear spoiler, and the black canopy roof.

However, several modifications have been made, including the addition of LED daytime running lights (DRL), vents on the front hood, and larger air intakes at the rear.

The Tensei’s appearance has also been enhanced with a wider rear track and a shortened rear overhang.

Currently, the exact specifications of the Tensei have not been disclosed.

However, in a previous announcement, JAS Motorsport indicated that they would be re-tuning the original 3.0-liter V6 engine, which is expected to exceed the paper figures of 270 hp and 285 Nm that were standard when launched in the 1990s.

JAS Motorsport has also confirmed that the Tensei will feature a body construction made from carbon fiber.

Aspark Owl Roadster now the fastest production car in the world: 0-100 km/h in 1.72 seconds!

Do you want a high-performance car made in Japan with acceleration that outpaces the Rimac Nevera? Consider the Aspark Owl Roadster.

This Japanese engineering company claims that the Owl Roadster EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.72 seconds!

With a mere 0.02-second advantage, the Owl Roadster holds the title of the fastest production car in the world.

While another speedster, the McMurtry Speirling, can achieve 0-100 km/h in just 1.40 seconds, it’s important to note that this is not a car intended for road use.

What makes the Aspark Owl Roadster so fast?

First and foremost, it features a carbon monocoque chassis and a full carbon fiber body, weighing a total of 2,050 kg, paired with four powerful electric motors.

It can achieve a top speed of 413 km/h, though it is electronically limited to 350 km/h for road use.

The 69 kWh battery offers a range of over 250 km on a single full charge.

The Owl Roadster comes with four driving modes: Rain-Snow, City-Comfort, Sport-Dynamic, and High Boost.

Driving dynamics are enhanced by double wishbone suspension with adjustable ride height, an active rear wing, a carbon ceramic brake system (10-piston front/4-piston rear), and 20-inch rims shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.

Since 2019, Aspark has shifted its production operations to Italy, with the Owl Roadster model limited to just 20 units worldwide.

Each unit is estimated to be worth US$3.5 million (RM14.45 million).

There is another manufacturer interested in boxer engines besides Porsche and Subaru

When we talk about flat or boxer engines, the names of two manufacturers typically come to mind: Porsche and Subaru.

This unique engine configuration offers benefits in terms of better vehicle handling due to its lower center of gravity compared to conventional engines.

You might not suspect that a popular name in China is also venturing into producing boxer engines.

That name is none other than BYD!

This news is quite surprising as BYD already has a family of engines for its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model lineup.

This brand-new 2.0-liter turbo boxer engine will be paired with four electric motors to power the luxury sedan Yangwang U7.

Overall, it can generate up to 1,287 hp and 1,680 Nm of torque.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h can be achieved in just 2.9 seconds, a truly impressive figure for a sedan weighing 3 tons!

Interestingly, the engine serves primarily as a range extender to charge the battery, which then supplies power to the electric motors.

However, under certain conditions, this engine can deliver 272 hp and 380 Nm of power directly to the rear axle.

With the help of this boxer engine, BYD was able to design the Yangwang U7 with a lower hood profile, giving the sedan a sportier appearance.

Additionally, the NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) aspects of this sedan are significantly improved due to the reduced vibrations from the boxer engine.

With the boxer range extender, the Yangwang U7 can travel up to 966 km on a full tank and fully charged battery, while the zero-emission range can reach up to 193 km.

In China, the BYD Yangwang U7 is priced between RMB628,000 and RMB708,000 (RM367,000 to RM414,000).
