2026 BMW iX3: the first EV from the Neue Klasse platform, 805 km range

Introducing the first model built on BMW’s latest Neue Klasse platform, the 2026 BMW iX3

The exterior design of this iX3 closely resembles the Vision Neue Klasse X concept model that was showcased last year.

This new design approach will also be applied to all future BMW models, including ICE models.

Here are some key facts about the iX3 2026:

1. Dimensions

The BMW iX3 measures 4,783 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,636 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,898 mm.

Compared to the previous iX3, the new model is larger and has a longer wheelbase.

2. Electric Platform

As mentioned, the iX3 2026 is built on the Neue Klasse platform, which is distinct from the existing BMW X3.

The Neue Klasse platform is a fully electric architecture that supports an 800-volt system, providing faster charging benefits.

It also features the sixth-generation eDrive system, which integrates newly developed electric motors with high-density cylindrical battery cells.

3. Performance

Initially, the BMW iX3 will be available in the 50 xDrive variant, equipped with two electric motors and an all-wheel-drive system delivering 463 hp and 645 Nm of torque.

The 0-100 km/h acceleration is achieved in just 4.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 209 km/h.

4. Battery

There are two battery size options available, with the larger capacity (108.7 kWh) capable of offering a range of up to 805 km (WLTP data).

With DC fast charging at 400 kW, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes, adding 370 km of range in 10 minutes.

The 2026 BMW iX3 supports bidirectional charging and is equipped with an NACS port.

5. Exterior Design

The appearance of the iX3 is inspired by classic BMW models like the 2002, infused with more modern elements.

In addition to the smaller, upright grille, the iX3 retains the Hofmeister kink design on the sides.

The rear lights have a more traditional shape compared to the previous iX3 model.

Overall, the BMW iX3 boasts a drag coefficient as low as 0.24, compared to 0.29 on the earlier iX3 model.

6. Cabin Space

A significant change in the iX3 is the Panoramic iDrive system, which gives the dashboard a more traditional and tidy layout.

No longer featuring a curved screen, it now has a central display of 17.9 inches and a wide screen located at the dashboard’s end.

There is also a four-spoke steering wheel with touch-based function buttons, complemented by several physical control buttons on the center console.

Other features include a Harman Kardon audio system, a panoramic glass roof, three-zone climate control, and BMW HypersonX sound effects.

The cargo space is 520 liters and can expand to 1,750 liters, along with an additional frunk space of 57 liters.

7. Four “superbrains” to control everything

The BMW iX3 is equipped with four high-performance computer units designed to manage various functions within the iX3.

One of the units, named Heart of Joy, is responsible for controlling driving dynamics, including the drive system, brakes, energy recovery, and steering, ensuring an exhilarating driving experience.

Another unit is designed for autonomous driving and parking functions, while the remaining units are dedicated to the infotainment system and essential vehicle functions.

Nissan Z Nismo will be available with manual transmission!

When the Nissan Z Nismo hit the market in 2024, it was seen as a strong competitor with its impressive power package of 420 hp and 521 Nm of torque, along with more serious suspension and braking systems, a limited-slip differential, and upgraded aerodynamic features.

Unfortunately, at that time, the sports car was only available in a nine-speed automatic version.

Fortunately, Nissan understands the demand and desires of Nismo fans.

According to a report from Automotive News, the Nissan Z Nismo will now be offered in a six-speed manual version to complement the existing automatic transmission option.

However, Nissan America’s Chairman, Christian Meunier, did not elaborate on whether the manual model would feature its own tuning or maintain the specifications of the existing Z Nismo.

True enthusiasts of the Nissan Z, as well as critics of the BMW Supra, can still enjoy this sports car with a three-pedal setup through the base Z Sport and Performance variants.

However, for the manual version of the Nissan Z Nismo, you will need to be patient, as Nissan has not disclosed when this model will arrive.

smart revives ForTwo with a new name: #2

After producing three large SUV models, smart is finally set to return to making a product that once put their name on the map — the ForTwo.

Rebranded as the smart #2, this new-generation city car is expected to hit the market by the end of 2026.

The smart #2 will be built on an entirely new platform designed specifically for ultra-compact vehicles.

Similar to the previous ForTwo model, the design of the #2 will be crafted by Mercedes.

Based on several teaser images that have surfaced on social media, the #2 appears to retain the two-door ultra-compact car design.

The difference is that the smart #2 features a more angular and edgy bodyline compared to the softer design of the ForTwo.

With a modern platform and more advanced electric drive technology, the smart #2 is anticipated to offer a greater driving range.

The only question remains: what will be the selling price of the smart #2?

In addition, the Roox provides the best knee space in its class, allowing children to comfortably stand to change clothes when the vehicle is stationary.

The cargo space is also quite generous, measuring approximately 675 mm in length, which can accommodate four 48-liter luggage bags.

The sliding door opening is 650 mm wide, while the rear seat can be moved up to 320 mm.

Several additional storage compartments are available, including large cup holders, a glove compartment, a device holder, and a covered space behind the display screen.

The Roox also introduces a first for the kei car class: the Intelligent Around View Monitor, featuring the Invisible Hood View function.

The ProPILOT safety system now includes smart emergency braking (AEB), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), smart blind-spot collision avoidance (ISB), and blind-spot warning (BSW).

New generation Mitsubishi Delica Mini, eK Space debut in Japan

Mitsubishi Japan has unveiled two kei car models set to launch soon: the new-generation 2025 Delica Mini and 2025 eK Space.

Reservations for both models are now open, with prices starting at approximately 1.95 million yen (RM56,000) for the Delica Mini and from 1.75 million yen (RM50,000) for the eK Space.

Delica Mini

In terms of appearance, one might assume that the second generation of the Delica Mini remains unchanged due to its identical front design. Even the dimensions haven’t changed.

However, upon closer inspection, it can be said that nearly all body panels have been redesigned.

The headlights, featuring a U-shaped graphic, are now larger, accompanied by a thicker grille structure and Dynamic Shield elements that match the body color.

The A-pillar has also become more vertical to create a roomier cabin space.

The hood, front fenders, and doors now showcase distinct body lines, while the D-pillar is thicker compared to the previous model.

According to Mitsubishi, the new Delica Mini features Kayaba Prosmooth shock absorbers, which also come with different settings for the all-wheel drive model.

Inside the cabin, the dashboard layout has been updated, featuring a seven-inch cluster screen and a central 12.3-inch screen integrated into a single panel, along with a newly designed two-spoke steering wheel.

In the center, there is a rotary dial for selecting driving modes, including Power, Normal, Eco, Gravel, and Snow.

Lastly, the Delica Mini is equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and a surround monitoring system that utilizes four camera sensors.

eK Space

The eK Space is a third-generation model introduced alongside the Delica Mini.

Unlike the Delica Mini, the eK Space presents a more elegant front without rugged elements such as body cladding and a skid plate.

The cabin layout is similarly designed to the Delica Mini, but the eK Space offers only three driving modes: Power, Normal, and Eco.

No details have been disclosed regarding the engines to be used in either the Delica Mini or the eK Space.

The previous Delica Mini was available with a choice of a naturally aspirated three-cylinder 658 cc engine producing 51 hp, or a turbo engine generating 63 hp.
