The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission tasked with delivering power to the front wheels.
What’s new with the 2024 model? According to Dinamikjaya, the appearance of the seven and eight-seater Carnival models has been enhanced with black 19-inch alloy wheels, as well as black and gray leatherette upholstery.
Both variants retain the premium features offered previously, which include LED daytime running lights, twin sunroof, Smart Power Sliding Door, and Smart Power Tailgate.

PROTON has announced its sales performance for the month of January 2024, with 12,882 units (domestic and export) sold last month.
According to the national car manufacturer, this marks their best start to a year since 2013. The figure represents a 1.3% increase compared to December 2023 and a gain of 10.3% compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the national automaker’s market share for January is estimated at 19.5%, which is 3.3% higher compared to the previous month.
The Total-Industry-Volume (TIV) is estimated at 66,134 units, which would translate to a decline of 15.6% compared to December that saw the numbers inflated by the traditional year-end push for higher vehicle sales to close 2023.
On individual models, the Saga maintains its popularity with 6,129 units sold, followed by Malaysia’s most popular SUV, the X50, with 2,002 units, and the B-segment sedan leader, Persona, with 1,846 units.
In fourth place is Proton’s newest model, the S70, which recorded sales of 1,442 units last month. Proton says the sedan now has over 8,000 orders, reflecting the strong and positive response it has received from eager customers.
The S70 also made its way to its first export market in Brunei, as 15 units were delivered ahead of its official launch there in February.
Proton’s flagship model, the X90, also performed well with 365 units sold last month, solidifying its position as the leader in the D-segment SUV market.
You may have forgotten about it but about three years ago, Audi introduced the RS6 GTO Concept that took inspiration from the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO race car.
That concept car now has made it to production through a limited edition model known as the RS6 Avant GT.
Only 660 units of the GT will be offered, all of which will be assembled at Böllinger Höfe, where the R8, e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT are built in small-series production.
As you can see, the RS6 Avant GT is not exactly a carbon copy of the RS6 GTO but there are some elements that have been carried over from the concept car.
These include the Singleframe and the air intakes finished entirely in high-gloss black, integrated air outlets behind the front wheels, and the distinctive double wing.
The livery on the RS6 Avant GT appears slightly different from that of the RS6 GTO but still retains the traditional Audi Sport colours of black, grey, and red.
In addition, the wagon also comes with a fully redesigned hood and fenders manufactured from carbon fibre, marking the first time the RS6 Avant has received such addenda.
The wheels come in 22-inch sizes and are available in glossy white, glossy black, or matte black, depending on the chosen body colour.
Meanwhile, the black interior is enhanced by numerous accents in the red and copper, which can be found on the steering wheel, the sides of the center console, the center armrest and door armrests and the floor mats.
The RS6 Avant GT comes standard with RS bucket seats wrapped in leather and Dinamica upholstery. The seats are also adorned with Express Red honeycomb stitching in the center and copper trims on the outer seams.
Included are also Dinamica microfibre trims on the dashboard, centre console, and doors, red seat belts, and the car’s serial number on the centre console.
Like the RS6 Avant Performance, the GT is powered by a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 TFSI engine that produces a whopping 630 PS and 850 Nm.
However, in terms of performance, this one is even more impressive, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, making it 0.1 seconds faster than the Performance version.
For the 0-200 km/h sprint, the GT needs only 11.5 seconds to accomplish, while the maximum speed is rated at 305 km/h.
To make it more agile on corners, Audi has installed an adjustable coilover suspension system as standard. It lowers the ride height by 10 mm compared to the RS6 Avant and offers a perfect combination of dynamics and comfort.
Alternatively, customers can opt for the RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) or the RS adaptive air suspension.
Other goodies found in the GT include stiffer stabiliser bars (30% in the front, 80% in the rear), reworked quattro sport differential on the rear axle, and 285/30 Continental Sport Contact 7 tyres
JEEP has unveiled some initial details and teaser photos of the Wagoneer S, its first global all-electric SUV, which is expected to be launched into the market in the fall of this year.
First up, the Wagoneer S is a mid-size SUV said to have a body size almost identical to the Grand Cherokee.
It is built on Stellantis’ STLA-Large platform and reportedly features a twin-motor setup that’s capable of generating 600 hp, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in just 3.5 seconds.
The battery capacity is unknown at the time of writing, but there are rumors that suggest it could offer a maximum driving range of up to 800 km.
Looking at the interior photos, the Wagoneer S appears to have no less than four screens, including a digital instrument cluster, an infotainment display, a display for the front passenger, and another screen specifically for the climate control system.
Not only that, the Wagoneer S will also feature a premium MacIntosh audio system with 19 speakers, a colour-selectable ambient lighting system and a standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof.
Also visible is the EV’s centre console, which houses the Start/Stop button, a rotary gear selector, and a toggle-style switch that enables drivers to select Sand, Snow, Eco, Auto, and Sport driving modes.
The iconic British automotive brand Morris Garages, or better known as MG is set to make its return to the Malaysian market through SAIC Motor Malaysia as the official distributor.
No exact dates have been given but according to SAIC Motor Malaysia, the public can expect “the grand unveiling of its latest models in Malaysia soon.”
We also don’t know which models will be offered here but that being said, the newly set up MG Malaysia website showcases three electric models, namely the MG4, ZS EV, and Cyberster.
The MG4 is an electric hatchback with dimensions similar to that of the BYD Dolphin.
According to paultan.org, the Thai-market version features a single electric motor producing 170 PS and 250 Nm, with a 51-kWh battery offering a driving range of up to 350 km.
On the other hand, the ZS EV is an SUV equipped with a 51.1-kWh battery providing a driving range of 320 km. It is reported that there is also a 72.6 kWh variant offering a longer range of 440 km.
Meanwhile, the Cyberster is available in three variants in China. The Glamour Edition is equipped with a single electric motor on the rear axle developing 314 PS/475 Nm, and a 64-kWh battery with a range of 501 km.
The Style Edition has a 77-kWh battery with a range of 580 km, while the Pioneer Edition offers a slightly shorter range of 520 km from the same battery. This is mainly due to its twin-motor setup that makes 544 PS and 725 Nm of torque.
The Toyota Hilux Hybrid 48V, which was launched in Europe last December, has now been introduced in Australia through a facelifted version of the pickup truck.
Similar to the European model, the facelifted Hilux for Down Under combines the existing 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with mild hybrid technology consisting of a motor generator, 48-volt battery, and DC/DC converter.
According to Toyota, the technology provides the Hilux with a Stop/Start system, helps the engine run smoother and improves fuel efficiency by approximately 6% to 10%, depending on variant.
For the Australian market, the 48V mild hybrid technology is equipped as standard in the 4X4 Rogue and SR5 double cab automatic variants, and optionally available on the 4X4 SR double cab.
In addition, all mild hybrid variants are made more capable off-road with the standard fitment of the Multi-Terrain Select system, which offers six driving modes.
However, unlike in Europe, the facelifted Hilux in Australia has been given a fresher look. The octagonal grille has been redesigned, while the front bumper now appears more prominent thanks to a trapezoid-shaped air intake and new fog lamp housings.
Some variants also feature a tough-looking black honeycomb mesh grille and a tailgate damper.
In terms of features, all SR double cab automatic variants now come with six parking sensors (two in the front, four in the rear), while the SR5, Rogue, and GR Sport variants receive a wireless charging pad and two USB-C ports.
The facelifted Hilux will arrive in Toyota showrooms across Australia starting this March, with prices ranging from AUD54,130 to AUD71,530 (RM167,800 to RM221,739) for the mild hybrid variants.
MITSUBISHI Motors Corporation has officially launched hybrid versions of the Xpander and Xpander Cross in the Thai market.
This marks the first time the seven-seater crossover has embraced electric hybrid power since it was launched into the market back in 2017.
Unlike the pure petrol version, which is powered by a 1.5-litre engine, both the Xpander HEV and Xpander Cross HEV feature a 1.6-litre engine capable of producing 95 hp and 134 Nm on its own.
When combined with an electric motor, the Xpander HEV boasts a total system output of 116 hp and 255 Nm, which is channeled to the front wheels.
According to Japanese automaker, the Atkinson cycle engine boasts higher combustion efficiency and an electric water pump to reduce fuel consumption by up to 34% for urban driving and 15% for mixed driving conditions.
Dubbed the e:Motion, the hybrid powertrain offers seven driving modes, namely Normal, Tarmac, Gravel, Mud, Wet, Charge, and EV.
Additionally, it also includes Active Yaw Control (AYC) that controls the braking force between the left and right front wheels.
In terms of design, the HEV models sport the facelifted front fascia introduced in 2022. That said, they can be set apart from the petrol versions by the HEV badge on the grille and tailgate, and the Hybrid EV badge on the front door.
Following the trend adopted for electrified vehicles, Mitsubishi has also incorporated blue accents to the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, and wheels.
The interior features an 8-inch LCD meter, a 9.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an electronic parking brake, as well as a new gear lever with Shift-by-Wire technology.
Sound absorbing and soundproofing materials have also been added at key locations to keep the interior quiet not only during driving on pure electric power but also when the engine activates during acceleration or when driving at high speeds.
In Thailand, the Xpander and Xpander Cross HEV are sold at 933,000 baht (RM124,544) and 961,000 baht (RM128,282), respectively.
IN addition to the GS3 Emzoom, WTC Automotif (WTCA) also previewed two more models that it will soon bring into the Malaysian market, namely the GAC Emkoo and GAC Aion Y Plus.
The Emkoo is a mid-size SUV that will compete with the likes of the Honda CR-V and Proton X70. No exact date has been given but it is said to enter our market later this year.
On the other hand, the GAC Aion Y Plus is a somewhat futuristic looking electric SUV marketed under GAC’s sub-brand Aion, which focuses on EVs. According to WTCA, the Aion Y Plus is expected to be launched in the first half of 2024.
As you can see, Emkoo boasts a bold and aggressive design highlighted by its V-shaped grille and ‘Eyes of Revelation’ LED headlights. Its interior underlines a digital and innovative concept with a semi-floating digital instrument cluster as the centrepiece.
In China, this model is available with a choice of 1.5-litre turbo, 2.0-litre turbo, and hybrid powertrains. It is still unknown which one we’ll get but rumours are pointing to the 1.5-litre mill, which develops 177 PS and 270 Nm, exactly the same amount of power as the GS3 Emzoom.
Aion Y Plus is built using the GAC Aion Electric Platform (AEP2.0), which the company claims costs around RM2 billion and took 30 months to develop. This platform features the longest wheelbase in its segment at 2,750 mm and a spacious full flat floor for rear passengers.
Not only that, its front seats can be reclined fully to form a 1.8 metre-wide double bed. Rear passengers can also enjoy a legroom of 1,022 mm, which is claimed to be the most spacious in the industry.
In terms of powertrain, Aion Y Plus is equipped with a 63.2 kWh Magazine battery that offers a driving range of up to 490 km (NEDC) or 430 km (WLTP) on one full charge.
WTC Automotif Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, has announced that the GAC GS3 Emzoom is now officially open for booking.
According to the company, bookings can be made with a fee of RM1,000, and the first 100 customers to make a booking will be invited to attend a private event.
The GS3 Emzoom is a B-segment SUV that will go toe-to-toe with the likes of the Proton X50 and Honda HR-V. For the Malaysian market, it will be offered in two variants, namely Exclusive and Premium-R, and is expected to be priced below RM130,000.
The GS3 Emzoom features several distinctive design elements such as the Mecha Wing grille, Laser Eye split LED headlights, Light Dart taillights, electric hidden door handles, ducktail rear spoiler, and crystal gear shift selector.
The right-hand drive preview unit comes with 18-inch alloy wheels. It will be available in four colours: Ivory White, Starlight Silver, Lake Blue, and Graphene Grey.
Powering the GS3 Emzoom is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 177 PS at 5,500 rpm and 270 Nm of torque at 1,400 rpm. With a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels, the SUV boasts a fuel consumption rating of 5.9 litres/100 km.
WTC Automotif has confirmed that the GS3 Emzoom will be locally assembled (CKD) at the Tan Chong Motor Assemblies (TCMA) plant in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur. It is expected to roll out from the plant in the second quarter of this year.
The company has also shared that the first GAC showroom will open its doors in Petaling Jaya in February 2024, followed by five more showrooms in Glenmarie, Cyberjaya, Seremban, Johor Bahru, and Pulau Pinang in the first half of this year.

ON January 18, Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia uploaded a teaser image of the Ora 07, indicating the imminent arrival of the model.
Now, the company has officially confirmed that the Ora 07 will be launched in Malaysia in the first quarter of this year.
Not only that, initial specifications of the fully electric fastback sedan have also been revealed. It will be offered in two configurations: a single electric motor offering a range of 640 km and a dual electric motor with a range of 550 km.
Notably, the driving range figures for both configurations mirror that of the Thai-spec Ora 07, which was launched in the country back in December.
There, the Long Range variant features a single electric motor on the front axle making 204 PS/340 Nm, allowing it to accelerate up to 170 km/h. A 83.5 kWh battery provides a range of up to 640 km.
The second variant, called Performance, is equipped with a pair of electric motors producing a total power of 408 PS/680 Nm. It has the same battery but a shorter driving range of 550 km.
Additionally, the Ora 07 for the Malaysian market will also come with an adaptive electric spoiler and a frameless door design.
AFTER the launch of the Spectre last year, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Kuala Lumpur is debuting yet another new model to the local market, namely the Phantom Series II.
The eighth generation Phantom was introduced back in 2017 as the first Rolls-Royce car to utilise the brand’s all-aluminium spaceframe dubbed the ‘Architect of Luxury’, which has gone to underpin every new Rolls-Royce.
For the latest iteration, only the slightest of changes have been incorporated to meet the demand of the clients, who have implored Rolls-Royce not to make any major changes to an already iconic car.
On the outside, you’ll find a new polished horizontal line between the daytime running lights above the Pantheon grille, as well as a subtle geometric change to the grille itself to futher accentuate the RR badge and Spirit of Ecstasy mascot.
The headlights feature intricate laser-cut bezel starlights, while the Phantom’s side profile is further enhanced with new 3D, milled, stainless steel wheels with triangle facets that can be had in either fully or part-polished finish.
Alternatively, customers may opt for disc wheels inspired by 1920’s Rolls-Royce motor cars.
Not only that, Rolls-Royce also offers a darkened chrome grille surround, as well as black bonnet reins, windscreen surround and side frame finishers.
The Phantom’s interior remains largely untouched, save for the steering wheel, which has been made slightly thicker for a more engaging driving experience.
Under the bonnet is a 6.75-litre twin-turbo V12 engine that is capable of making 563 hp at 5,000 rpm and 900 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. With an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Phantom sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds.
In Malaysia, the Phantom is available in base and Extended versions, priced at RM2.5 million and RM2.9 million before tax, respectively.
MALAYSIA Airlines, in collaboration with BMW Group Malaysia through their dealer partner, Ingress Auto Sdn. Bhd., will be introducing an exclusive private terminal transfer service for its passengers to travel in premium comfort between the Main Terminal Building and the Satellite Building of KLIA Terminal 1.
Beginning 1 February 2024, Enrich Platinum, Business Suite, and Business Class passengers flying with Malaysia Airlines will be chauffeured in style with the all-electric BMW i7.
The 24-hour service offers a sustainable and premium travel option exclusively for Malaysia Airlines’ passengers, in addition to the Premium Bus transfer currently provided by the airport operator following the temporary suspension of the aerotrain service.
During this initial phase, a fleet of BMW i7 vehicles will be deployed to serve departing passengers with the pick-up point located at Gate G1 of the Main Terminal Building. The airline will also be deploying additional units to serve arriving passengers in the near future, following the completion of the arrival lounge at the airport’s Satellite Building.
Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, Chief Executive Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said “With this exclusive service, we aim to enhance the travel experience for our top-tier customers, ensuring that they can enjoy premium comfort as part of their end-to-end journey with us.
“As the only carrier offering this temporary personalised service to our passengers in light of the aerotrain’s temporary suspension at KLIA Terminal 1, it underscores our dedication to elevating our standards of service to ensure a premium travel experience, while also reinforcing our commitment to embedding sustainable practices with the selection of the all-electric BMW i7 series.
We look forward to extending this service to our arriving passengers as part of our continuous efforts to ensure a fuss-free and enjoyable experience driven by our inimitable Malaysian Hospitality,” he added.
HONDA Malaysia announced that it has recorded more than 80,000 units of total sales, achieving its annual sales target for 2023.
This remarkable achievement has enabled Honda Malaysia to retain its No.1 position in the Non-National Passenger Vehicle Segment for the tenth consecutive year since 2014.
According to Honda Malaysia, the year 2023 was one of gradual recovery and a positive outlook. The company launched a total of four new models in the second half of the year, namely the WR-V, City, Civic Type R and CR-V.
The three top-selling models in 2023 are City, HR-V and City Hatchback contributing 30%, 25% and 13% respectively to the overall sales. In addition, the WR-V, HR-V, CR-V and Civic emerged as No.1 in their respective segments.
Honda Malaysia Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hironobu Yoshimura said, “2023 proved to be a challenging year where we faced a competitive market. However, Honda Malaysia managed to overcome and achieved our sales target in 2023 with strong support from our dealers and the Malaysian Government.
Additionally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all Honda customers who have played a crucial role in this achievement through their unwavering support towards the Honda brand.”
Honda Malaysia’s remarkable achievement this year was largely contributed by the launch of the WR-V in July. The small SUV received overwhelming response from the market with more than 7,800 units sold within the first six month of launch. The RS variant is the largest contributor, accounting for 60% of the total sales to-date.
Besides that, sales for e:HEV hybrid models also increased from more than 4,100 units in 2022 to more than 7,700 units in 2023, representing a 87% growth. In 2023, Honda’s e:HEV models contributed 28% to overall hybrid sales in Malaysia, which is a significant contribution to the growth of xEV’s in the country.

THE Malaysia Automotive Association (MAA) has reported that the total industry volume (TIV) of the Malaysian automotive industry rose to a record high of 799,731 units in 2023, representing an 11% increase from the 721,177 units recorded in 2022.
According to MAA President Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain, the increase was primarily driven by the passenger cars sub-segment, following a resilient domestic economy and stable socio-political environment.
He further added that the growth was also propelled by tax incentives, new launches including competitively priced electric vehicles, and improved industry supply chain environment.
“The industry’s sales growth last year marked the second annual gain since the downturn in 2020-2021 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was also the second consecutive year the TIV exceeded the 700,000-unit mark,” he said.
