3,081 units of Isuzu D-Max sold in H1 2025

Isuzu Malaysia has strengthened its position in the local pickup truck market, securing second place during the second quarter of this year with its D-Max model.

The increase in sales during this period propelled Isuzu Malaysia to achieve a market share of 16 percent, with 3,081 pickup trucks sold to date.

The popularity of the Isuzu D-Max is driven by high demand for the 1.9-liter engine model, which offers impressive power performance as well as greater fuel efficiency.

It is not surprising that the 1.9-liter variant accounted for over 85.8 percent of total D-Max sales. Among these, the 1.9-liter 4×4 Auto Premium variant was the best-selling model, offering the best value with its impressive features, comfort, and included safety specifications.

As a variant listed in the Malaysia Book of Records for the longest distance traveled on a single tank of fuel, the D-Max 1.9-liter 4×4 Auto Premium contributed to 18.6 percent of total sales.

According to Isuzu Malaysia’s CEO, Tomoyuki Yamaguchi, “The results achieved this year reaffirms the trend we have observed since last year when pick-up truck enthusiasts and passenger car converts alike have discovered the benefits of owning and driving these highly capable Isuzu D-Max trucks.

“We hope to continue appealing our product benefits in the second half of the year while ensuring positive experiences for our customers.”

Isuzu Malaysia offers up to nine variants of the Isuzu D-Max to choose from, starting with the 1.9-liter Low Ride 4×2 for rugged work to the X-Terrain variant, enabling customers to select the truck that best meets their individual needs while enjoying reliable and efficient performance.

Isuzu Malaysia’s Chief Operating Officer, Kenichi Kudo, stated, “Key efforts for the second half of the year will focus on improving the accessibility of our products by reaching out to potential customers beyond the perimeters of our outlets and offering them immersive experiences that highlight the key benefits of our products.”

Isuzu D-Max EV now available in the UK, comes with a high price tag

A few months ago, Isuzu announced that production of the electric D-Max EV pickup truck had begun at its factory in Thailand.

The truck is expected to hit the European market as early as 2026, carrying a surprisingly high price tag.

The Isuzu D-Max EV is priced at £59,995 (RM341,913), which is double the price of the diesel version of the D-Max, starting at £27,755 (RM158,176).

Furthermore, with a price of £62,495 (RM356,000) for the more premium variant, it is still considered expensive compared to the D-Max AT35 pickup, which comes loaded with various off-road accessories priced at £57,005 (RM325,000).

The Isuzu D-Max EV is powered by two electric motors, producing an output of 188 hp and 325 Nm, while still retaining the Rough Terrain Mode feature from the diesel model.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 10.1 seconds, with a maximum speed of only 129 km/h.

As a workhorse, the D-Max EV offers a payload capacity of 1,000 kg and can tow loads of up to 3.5 tons, matching the capabilities of the diesel pickup.

The 66.9 kWh battery pack allows for a driving range of just 263 km; however, it supports 50 kW DC fast charging, enabling a quick recharge from 20% to 80% in just one hour.

The Isuzu D-Max EV retains the ladder-frame chassis like the standard model, but the rear suspension has been adapted to a De-Dion setup for improved ride quality.

These off-road accessories by ARB will make you forget the true looks of the Kia Tasman

For those who missed the news, Kia has produced a genuine ladder-frame pickup truck to compete against rivals like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.

It has become a hot topic due to Kia’s somewhat unusual design approach.

However, if you are still interested in Kia products and want to hide that peculiar appearance, ARB, an off-road accessory company, has some offerings.

Among them is a front bull bar complete with a skid plate and recovery points.

There is also a larger bull bar with fender bars connected to a side step structure for a more aggressive look.

In addition, ARB offers several bed structure options, including an enclosed cargo space for storing camping or woodworking equipment.

Customization according to individual needs is also possible.

Other accessories that can be installed include roof racks, additional LED lights, and foldable ladders.

Given the higher ground clearance depicted in these generated images, it is not impossible that ARB will offer a suspension upgrade kit for the Kia Tasman model.

Besides ARB, Kia itself offers various accessory packages that can be directly fitted from the factory, including sport bars, off-road bumpers, snorkels, and accessories for canopies and truck beds.

The D-Max EV’s capabilities are on par with the diesel version of the D-Max, boasting a payload capacity of 1,010 kg and a towing capacity of 3,500 kg.

The 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack enables the vehicle to travel up to 361 km for city driving (WLTP data).

The D-Max EV also supports 11 kW AC charging (0-100 percent in 10 hours) and 50 kW DC fast charging, where the battery can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in one hour.

In terms of dimensions, the D-Max EV measures 5,280 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, and 1,810 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. The vehicle weighs approximately 2,350 kg.

Additionally, the D-Max EV features a ground clearance of 210 mm, the capability to wade through 600 mm of water, and approach and departure angles of 30.5 degrees and 24.2 degrees, respectively.

Unlike the standard D-Max, which uses leaf spring suspension in the rear, the handling of the D-Max EV is enhanced by the use of De-Dion suspension.

According to Isuzu, the left-hand drive (LHD) version of the D-Max EV will be distributed to major European markets in the third quarter (Q3) of this year.

The right-hand drive (RHD) version is set to begin production at the end of this year and is expected to be sold in the UK market in 2026, before being expanded to other markets.

Jetour unveils F700 pickup truck prototype secretly in Shanghai

At 2025 Auto Shanghai, Jetour showcased a futuristic full-size pickup truck concept model, the F700.

Why do we say it’s futuristic?

The F700 Concept features ‘coach’ style doors similar to those found on luxury models like Rolls-Royce, or suicide doors without a B-pillar in the middle.

Not many people know that Jetour actually displayed a prototype model of the F700, which closely resembles the actual production version at the Hilton Shanghai Hongqiao hotel, which served as the accommodation for global media.

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take photos of the impressive pickup truck model, as all recording devices and smartphones had to be left outside the giant box.

What we can conclude is that the F700 is essentially the G700 in a pickup version, with a boxy body design and a front structure that is almost the same.

The F700 shares the same platform as the G700 ladder-frame SUV.

According to the specification sheet placed next to the model, the F700 is powered by a 2.0-liter TGDI hybrid engine mated to a hybrid transmission (DHT) and two electric motors (one for each axle).

The F700 is also equipped with a 34.13 kWh battery pack.

The pickup truck chassis is supported by double-wishbone suspension both front and rear, as well as a four-wheel drive (4WD) system.

With the addition of a bed at the rear, the F700 has larger dimensions, measuring 5,495 mm in length compared to the G700’s 5.1 meters, with a wheelbase of 3,350 mm.

So far, the F700 model is still in the development stage, with the actual production version likely to be revealed to the public in the near future.
