Launched officially a few months ago, the Isuzu D-Max equipped with the new 2.2‑liter engine continues to receive strong response from Malaysian buyers.

The new model contributed to a 17.3% market share in the pickup segment during the second quarter of 2026—an increase of 3% compared to the first quarter.

Best-Selling Variant: Standard 4×4 Auto

The Standard 4×4 Auto 2.2‑liter variant emerged as the top seller, accounting for 36% of total D-Max sales.

The Single Cab 4×4 variant also recorded encouraging demand, with 60% of its sales consisting of automatic transmission units.

According to Isuzu, the new 2.2‑liter engine has become a popular choice among buyers due to its dynamic driving performance, fuel efficiency, and highly responsive eight‑speed automatic transmission.

With the introduction of the updated D-Max lineup, Isuzu now offers the most comprehensive range of pickup variants in the local market, with a total of 10 variants.

Isuzu’s Best Engine Yet

Kenichi Kudo, Chief Operating Officer for Isuzu Malaysia’s light commercial vehicle division, said the new engine adds a fresh dimension to the driving enjoyment and capability of the current D-Max.

“The new range of Isuzu D-MAX with its new 2.2-litre engine and 8-speed automatic transmission have performed exceptionally well since its launch in April this year.

“The new powerhouse achieves improved heights in every aspect ranging from fuel efficiency, power, quietness and emission. That’s why we don’t hesitate to call it our ‘Best Engine Ever’,” said Kudo.
