West Coast Expressway (WCE) Section 2 opens today, connecting Banting to Shah Alam, Klang

Section 2 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) is now open to users starting from January 22, 2025, at 12:01 AM.

With the opening of this 7.2 km stretch, users now have an alternative route from Banting to Shah Alam, Klang, Kajang, Putrajaya, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and vice versa.

Additionally, it provides direct connections to the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) and the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS).

The new stretch will further complete the interchange from Banting to the SKVE interchange, which was opened on August 31, 2024, and will reduce travel time compared to existing routes.

In conjunction with the opening of this new stretch, no toll charges will be imposed for users entering the WCE from the SAE Toll Plaza to the SKVE interchange (WCE) or vice versa, from January 22 to February 21, 2025.

This latest stretch is part of the 314.5 km West Coast Expressway, which will connect Banting in Selangor to Taiping in Perak.

WCE Section 1 toll collection begins on Monday

After a month of operating for free, the West Coast Expressway (WCE) Section 1 (Banting-SKVE) will commence toll collection on September 30, 2024, at 12:01 AM.

The toll rates applied on Section 1 of the WCE Expressway are fully integrated with the SKVE Expressway through the Tanjung Dua Belas Interchange, taking into account the entire journey of users, including the section of the journey on the SKVE Expressway.

Toll collection will be fully implemented electronically using Touch ‘N Go cards, Smart Tags, and RFID.

Users are advised to ensure that their e-wallet balance and Touch ‘N Go cards are sufficient before starting the journey to avoid any difficulties at the toll plaza.

West Coast Expressway Section 1 opens at midnight

Section 1 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE), involving the stretch from Banting Interchange to SKVE Interchange, will officially be open to highway users starting at 12:01 a.m. tonight (August 31, 2024).

The opening of Section 1 of the WCE was officiated by the Minister of Works, YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, in an event held earlier at the Banting Toll Plaza.

This section involves a 12.5 km stretch connecting Dengkil-Banting Road (FT31) to the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE), and is expected to benefit residents around Banting by providing connectivity to major towns in the southern Klang Valley such as Putrajaya, Bangi, and Kajang.

It will also link major ports such as Port Klang and Port Lumut to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), which is expected to enhance travel efficiency for the freight transport sector and reduce operation costs for industrial companies operating within the highway’s reach.

In conjunction with the official opening, the Minister of Works also announced toll exemption for one month from August 31, 2024, until September 29, 2024, 11:59 p.m.
