AFAZ confirms local-made supermoped featuring GSX-R150 engine

This is an exciting development from Malaysia’s second national motorcycle brand, AFAZ.

Last weekend, AFAZ revealed some information about the latest development of another model that will be launched this year—a 150 cc supermoped.

Yes, it seems that the Modenas Z15GT will soon have a real competitor!

Here are some key facts you should know:

1. The AFAZ supermoped will utilize a 147 cc engine from the GSX-R150.

It is reported that this engine, capable of producing 19 hp at 10,500 rpm and 14 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm, will be retuned by AFAZ.

2. During the event, we were not allowed to take any photos of the actual appearance of the supermoped.

The prototype unit displayed afterward was found to use components from the Raider 150.

However, there is no need to worry, as AFAZ stated that the chassis of this supermoped will be completely newly developed, and all other components will also be made in-house.

3. The AFAZ supermoped is categorized as a premium model, on par with the Yamaha Y16ZR.

Features we can expect include a TFT display with voice command support, dual-channel ABS, LED lights, and other elements tailored for a high-performance motorcycle.

4. Another interesting point shared is that this supermoped will feature an auto clutch system developed by Amitech, a subsidiary under AFY Mobilities.

This auto clutch system will debut on the Raider model in the Vietnamese market before being offered on this AFAZ supermoped.

5. Looking for a supermoped alternative to Yamaha, Honda, and Modenas?

You can look forward to the arrival of this model soon, with a possible launch in the second half of this year (H2 2026).

2025 MODENAS Z15GT officially launched – priced at RM8,288

MODENAS has officially launched the highly anticipated supermoped model, the MODENAS Z15GT 2025, for the Malaysian market.

It features a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with a capacity of 149.5 cc, capable of generating 16.8 hp at 9,500 rpm and a torque of 13.5 Nm.

This power is transmitted to the wheels via a six-speed transmission.

The Z15GT measures 1,980 mm in length, 670 mm in width, and 1,100 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,315 mm and a weight of approximately 128 kg.

The fuel tank capacity is 5.7 liters, while the seat height is 780 mm.

The suspension consists of a telescopic fork at the front, followed by a single shock absorber at the rear, and the braking system features front and rear disc brakes.

Unfortunately, it is equipped with only a single-channel ABS.

Among the features included are:

  • LED lighting system at the front and rear, including DRL and turn signals
  • Hazard lights
  • Smart key system
  • LCD instrument panel
  • Type-A USB charging socket

For information, the MODENAS Z15GT showcases Kawasaki’s DNA in its design, particularly the Sugomi elements from the Z model, which can be seen in the front and rear lights.

Additionally, the arowana fish motif also influences the aggressive and aerodynamic design of the Z15GT, giving it a distinctive personality.

There are three color options available: Graphite Grey, Nardo Grey, and Rosso Red.

For the Malaysian market, the MODENAS Z15GT 2025 is priced starting from RM8,288.

This is the clear look of WMOTO ‘Supermoped’, launching soon

IN recent weeks, the ‘spy shots’ of a ‘supermoped’ motorcycle undergoing road testing on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) have been widely circulated on social media.

The latest development comes from Najwa Syafiqah’s Facebook account, who successfully captured a clear image of the motorcycle at a gas station in Gopeng, Perak.

Alleged to be the latest ‘supermoped’ from WMOTO, the recent image reveals several intriguing features. Firstly, the motorcycle boasts full LED lighting, including front lights seemingly inspired by the Ducati Panigale V4.

The front lights are also equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). The panel meter is of the full digital type, displaying comprehensive information such as fuel level, engine temperature, battery voltage, odometer reading, time, and RPM.

A closer look at the rim indicates the presence of an ABS sensor, suggesting the incorporation of an ABS safety system, although it is uncertain whether it is a single or dual-channel ABS.

Other noticeable features include axial front brakes with single disc brakes at the front and rear, as well as telescopic forks for the torque. The transmission is of the manual type, but the number of gears available remains unconfirmed.
