Ipone Malaysia launches SIRIM-certified lubricant line with new packaging & enhanced formulations

Specialty Lubricants Trading Sdn Bhd, as the official representative of Ipone in Malaysia, has launched a full range of motorcycle engine oils featuring new packaging and enhanced formulations.

The lubricant brand has also achieved SIRIM certification, ensuring high standards of quality and reliability for riders in Malaysia.

Ipone’s lubricant line now features 100% PAO (Polyalphaolefin) and ester base oils—high-quality Group 4 and Group 5 base oils, representing the highest grade of lubricants available today.

By combining these esters with premium base oils, Ipone delivers exceptional engine protection, maximum performance, and enhanced efficiency, meeting the needs of everyday riders, motorsport enthusiasts, and racers who demand top performance from their rides.

Inspired by the spirit of Japan, the Ipone lubricant line also draws from the concept of judo belts, symbolizing different performance levels and riding requirements:

  • Shogun (black belt) – Designed for riders seeking maximum protection and performance on both track and road.
  • Samurai & Katana (blue belts) – Fully synthetic oils for premium and responsive performance, offering durability and protection for energetic daily rides.
  • T4000 (green belt) & 10.4 (orange belt) – Semi-synthetic oils that provide a balance of protection, performance, and value, suitable for daily commuting, touring, or mixed-use.
  • M4 (yellow belt) – Mineral oil for those seeking an affordable and reliable lubricant.

The product launch event, held recently, was attended by representatives from KPDN, distributors, media, influencers, and staff from both Ipone and MKA Group, the new official distributor of Ipone in Peninsular Malaysia.

According to Ravi Shankar, Managing Director of Specialty Lubricants Trading (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, “We are ushering Ipone into an exciting new journey with enhanced formulations and renewed packaging. We are confident that consumers will appreciate the comprehensive experience offered, the meticulous craftsmanship of the oils, and our uncompromising quality.”

Yoann Koppe, Chief Business Officer of Motul Asia Pacific, added, “At Ipone, true localization means understanding the unique needs of Malaysian riders and tailoring not only our products but also our approach to meet those needs.

“Ipone is designed for riders with courage—those who dare to express their personalities, test their limits, and desire more from their rides.

ASTRA from Bateriku receives SIRIM certification

Bateriku (M) Sdn Bhd has achieved an important milestone with the official launch of its ASTRA automotive battery product line, which has received SIRIM certification for all 28 of its SKUs.

Since its introduction three years ago, ASTRA batteries have sold over one million units, bolstered by Bateriku’s extensive ecosystem, which includes 225 physical pit stops.

In addition, Bateriku is supported by over 1,500 trained gig technicians from the Bateriku Academy.

The SIRIM recognition, through IEC 60095 certification, meets international standards for safety and quality.

This achievement positions ASTRA as the only automotive battery brand in Malaysia to receive certification for all 28 of its SKUs, including MF batteries, EFB batteries, and AGM batteries.

Interestingly, Bateriku also offers free Group Personal Accident (GPA) insurance coverage up to RM7,000 with every purchase of an ASTRA battery—this initiative is the first of its kind in the Malaysian battery industry.

Users will enjoy national warranty services, including on-site assistance anywhere in Malaysia.

During the same event, Bateriku launched its Quality Laboratory, a specialized facility for testing the performance, durability, and safety of each supplied battery.

The establishment of the Bateriku Quality Laboratory under Green Lab Sdn Bhd will strengthen internal quality control and ensure that every ASTRA battery meets the established quality standards.

According to Bateriku’s Chief Executive Officer, Tuan Haji Azarol Faizi bin Zakaria Ansari, “ASTRA is not just a battery; it is a promise of quality, after-sales support, and peace of mind for every user in Malaysia.

“Astra is the battery of choice for mechanics, as they no longer need to address customer warranty claims.

“Customers can visit any of the 225 Bateriku Pit Stops nationwide or contact Bateriku’s 24-hour hotline.”

All engine oils must have genuine certification from SIRIM starting April 7

Starting from April 7, the government will enforce the Trade Descriptions Order (Certification and Marking of Engine Oil for Motor Vehicles) 2024 in its efforts to curb the sale of counterfeit motor vehicle engine oil.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali stated that with this new order, consumers will be able to identify the sale of genuine motor vehicle engine oil, thus curbing the sale of counterfeit oil which can pose safety risks and lead to road accidents.

“This new order will be able to protect the the interests of motor vehicle engine oil product companies by curbing the risks of production of non-genuine products by irresponsible parties,” he said.

Armizan mentioned that any engine oil product, whether produced domestically or imported, must obtain genuine certification through SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd, which has been appointed as the responsible body to certify and issue product compliance labels for this purpose.

The government is allowing a six-month period for manufacturers to comply with the directives regarding the gazette order starting on October 11, 2024.

“KPDN in collaboration with SIRIM has been organising engagement programmes since 2022 involving almost all major players in the motor vehicle engine oil industry in the country. Strict action will be taken against any importing company, distributor, or seller who sells uncertified products and does not have valid compliance label from the authorities,” said Armizan.
