12th Mazda Charity Golf Tournament raises funds to support communities in need

Bermaz Motor recently concluded its 12th Annual Mazda Charity Golf Tournament at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, a two-day event held on 9th and 10th October 2026 that brought together business partners, government representatives, Mazda customers, golf enthusiasts and members of the community for a meaningful celebration of sport, unity and purpose.

What began more than a decade ago as a modest charitable initiative has grown into one of Bermaz Motor’s most significant annual traditions, reflecting the company’s belief that driving enjoyment and social responsibility can move forward together.

Today, the tournament stands as a cornerstone fundraising event for the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF), a charitable platform dedicated to providing medical relief and humanitarian support to underprivileged communities across Malaysia.

Through the MMF, Bermaz Motor continues to extend assistance to patients in need, welfare organisations, children’s homes and community shelters, ensuring that compassion reaches those who need it most. This year’s edition welcomed a strong turnout of two hundred participants, underscoring the continued trust in Mazda’s long-standing commitment to community upliftment.

Tan Sri Dato Sri Ben Yeoh, Executive Chairman of Bermaz Auto Berhad, reflected on the significance of this year’s event.

“We are deeply honoured by the presence of His Royal Highness, whose continued support reflects the true spirit of service and compassion. The Mazda Charity Golf Tournament has always been more than a sporting event. It is a collective commitment to uplift communities and extends care to those who need it most.

This tournament reflects our belief that corporate responsibility must be lived, not stated. The Mazda Medicare Fund was built on the principle of giving without expectation, and every year this event reinforces that purpose. We are grateful to His Royal Highness and all our distinguished guests for supporting a cause that continues to touch lives across Malaysia.

The strength of this tournament lies in the unity it inspires. Leaders, agencies, partners and customers come together for a shared purpose, reaffirming the belief that compassion is most powerful when it is collective.”

The charity luncheon on 10th October was graced by His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Al Sultan Abdullah Riayatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah. As the Royal Patron of the Mazda Medicare Fund since 2015, His Royal Highness has consistently championed charitable endeavours that bring meaningful change to communities in need. His presence once again elevated the occasion with dignity and purpose.

Also in attendance were Datuk Dr Mahathar bin Abdul Wahab, Director General of Health Malaysia; YB Dato Mohamad Nizar bin Dato Sri Mohamad Najib, Pahang State Executive Council Member; and Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority. Their participation underscored the unity between government, corporate and community stakeholders in championing the spirit of service and shared responsibility.

During the luncheon, representatives from selected beneficiaries were invited on stage to receive symbolic mock cheques, marking another chapter in Mazda’s ongoing support for organisations that provide essential care and protection. The 2026 beneficiaries include:

  • Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital
  • Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak Kanak Yatim Dan Cacat Perlindungan Selangor
  • Pusat Jagaan Anak Anak Yatim Sai Pandian
  • Pertubuhan Rumah Anak Yatim Dan Asnaf Kampung Sijankang
  • Yayasan Al Sultan Abdullah

These organisations represent a broad range of community needs, from cancer care and welfare support to safe homes for children and vulnerable groups. Through the Mazda Medicare Fund, Bermaz Motor continues to ensure that contributions reach those who need them most, strengthening the fund’s legacy of compassion and public trust.

The Mazda Medicare Fund was established in 2015 through a long-standing collaboration between Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd and B. Braun Avitum Renal Services, with the mission of providing life saving haemodialysis treatment for end stage renal disease patients facing financial hardship. Over the years, the fund has continued to make a meaningful impact by offering subsidised treatment to eligible patients who would otherwise struggle to access essential care.

Beyond medical relief, the MMF has expanded its support to elderly homes, orphanages, disability centres and facilities for children with special needs. Each beneficiary is carefully evaluated to ensure transparency, accountability and meaningful impact. In line with its commitment to responsible stewardship, the MMF directs all contributions fully to charitable purposes without unnecessary overheads, preserving its role as a compassionate and trustworthy platform.

In addition to annual events, Bermaz Motor has strengthened the long-term sustainability of the Mazda Medicare Fund through the Mazda Privilege Card (MPC), introduced in 2018. With a one-time sign-up fee of RM100 that goes directly to the fund and qualifies for tax exemption by Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN), the MPC has evolved into both a charitable avenue and a rewarding ownership programme for Mazda customers.

Cardholders contribute meaningfully to supporting underprivileged communities while enjoying exclusive benefits, including a 15% discount on selected Mazda genuine spare parts and a 5% discount on labour charges at Bermaz Motor and Prima Merdu Mazda showrooms and service centres nationwide. Over the years, the MPC has been warmly embraced by Mazda owners, weaving a spirit of giving into the ownership experience and ensuring continuous support for the Mazda Medicare Fund throughout the year.

As the twelfth edition draws to a close, the Mazda Charity Golf Tournament continues to stand as a reminder that compassion grows strongest when shared. Bermaz Motor remains committed to supporting communities through purposeful action, ensuring that the spirit of giving endures and continues to touch lives across Malaysia.
