Lotus introduces Eletre PHEV, featuring the quirky name: “For Me”

Lotus China has announced the arrival of the Eletre plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant for the Chinese market, bearing a rather peculiar name: For Me.

According to reports from CarNewsChina, the Lotus For Me is set for an official launch in the first quarter of 2026.

In terms of dimensions, the Eletre PHEV does not significantly differ from the EV version, measuring 5,103 mm in length, 2,019 mm in width, 1,636 mm in height, and with a wheelbase of 3,019 mm.

It is also equipped with Brembo braking systems with six-piston calipers in the front, an active spoiler, and custom Pirelli P Zero 5 LTS tires.

Handling has been improved with a dual-chamber, dual-valve suspension system featuring Continuous Damping Control (CDC), adaptive dampers, and an adaptive sway bar.

The plug-in hybrid system in the Lotus For Me consists of a 2.0-liter turbo engine paired with two electric motors (one for each axle).

The maximum power reaches 952 hp, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds.

With a 900V architecture, the 70 kWh battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 8 minutes.

The zero-emission range can reach up to 420 km (CLTC data).

Currently, Lotus has yet to disclose the actual sale price for the For Me model.

The year 2024 marks a significant period for Lotus Cars Malaysia.

Over the past 12 months, Lotus Malaysia has successfully sold more than 200 units of the Lotus Eletre electric SUV, along with 20 units of the Lotus Emira sports car.

Not only that, the Lotus Eletre has triumphed in not one, but two categories at the 2024 Malaysia Car of the Year Awards, namely SUV of the Year (above RM500,000) and xEV of the Year 2024 (above RM300,000).

Officially launched in the Malaysian market in 2023, the Lotus Eletre is the brand’s first electric SUV, delivering a remarkable performance with up to 905 hp and 985 Nm of torque.

With a 112 kWh battery pack, the Lotus Eletre can achieve a driving range of 600 km, or 490 km for the Eletre R.

2024 Lotus Eletre base version reintroduced, priced from RM598k

Lotus Cars Malaysia recently reintroduced the base variant of the 2024 Lotus Eletre as a complement to the existing Eletre S and Eletre R variants.

The first deliveries are scheduled to begin as early as October, with the selling price increased to RM598,800 compared to the original price of RM578,000 at the launch in April 2023.

The base version of the 2024 Lotus Eletre retains the specifications of two powerful electric motors generating 603 hp and 710 Nm, coupled with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 4.5 seconds before reaching a top speed of 245 km/h.

The distinguishing features of the base Eletre variant from the Eletre S and Eletre R variants are the 20-inch aerodynamic alloy rims and a four-piston brake system. Buyers can upgrade to a six-piston brake system with 22-inch rims for an additional RM30,000.

Other options include side cameras and an active rear spoiler that further enhances the driving experience of the Eletre.

As standard, the Lotus Eletre is equipped with ADAS safety features including smart adaptive cruise control (ACC), driver monitoring system, rear collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), front cross-traffic alert (FCTA), lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring system, and parking assistance.
