Pos Malaysia tests autonomous logistics vehicles without drivers

Pos Malaysia Berhad has now entered a new era of smart logistics with the launch of the first autonomous vehicle (AV) in Malaysia.

This initiative is a collaboration between Pos Malaysia, Autonomous Logistic Solutions Sdn Bhd (ALS), and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB).

ALS is a local company responsible for bringing in the fully electric, Level 4 autonomous logistics vehicle, Zelos, specifically designed for B2B goods delivery.

Pos Malaysia and ALS will conduct a six-month Proof of Concept (PoC) within Pos Malaysia’s operational environment as a critical step toward road usage.

It has also received support from the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, the Road Transport Department (JPJ), and Futurise to ensure it complies with established regulatory and safety frameworks.

The introduction of these electric autonomous vehicles underscores Pos Malaysia’s commitment to its Sustainability Roadmap, which prioritizes decarbonization, operational efficiency, and green innovation across the value chain.

By reducing reliance on fossil fuels and optimizing delivery routes, this AV has the potential to significantly lower carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency in logistics operations.

Pos Malaysia currently operates the largest fleet of electric vehicles in the country, consisting of over 1,500 electric motorcycles and vans, comprising 25% of its total vehicle fleet.

In China, Zelos has already operated over 15,000 autonomous vehicles across several countries, including China, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.
