As a leader in this segment since 2004, this approach demonstrates Honda Malaysia’s commitment to continually acquiring efficient, reliable, and high-performance hybrid technology.

The core strategy of Honda Malaysia is its commitment to continuously offering customers a ‘Fun to Drive’ experience.

The prizes, a Civic 1.5L RS and a CR-V 2.0L e:HEV RS, were handed over to the lucky winners at the dealers.

“Honda really rewards their customers. As an existing Honda owner, I already know how reliable and safe the cars are, and how easy it is to maintain, with authorised service centres available almost everywhere. I have always trusted the Honda brand, so it was an automatic first choice for me when I was looking for a second family car. Now, I not only have a brand-new SUV, but also a newly won Civic 1.5L RS in my driveway alongside my City. My family is thrilled, and we can’t wait for our next family road trip. My family and I feel extremely grateful and excited for this amazing reward, ” said Mr. Zulkeffli.

Mr. Mohamad Farees Rahimi bin Ab Kadir from Johor was completely taken by surprise when he was announced as one of the two winners for November 2025 under Honda Malaysia’s “Because of You” campaign.

He said, “Winning this award-winning CR-V e:HEV RS is truly beyond my expectations. It honestly feels like a blessing! I purchased the City Hatchback RS because it is compact, easy to drive and packed with practical features. I had it in mind that I might upgrade to an SUV one day. The CR-V is spacious, comfortable, and comes with so many features that suit my needs perfectly. Now, I have the option of driving around in a sporty hot hatch or enjoying a more premium SUV drive with my family. It is a wonderful way to wrap up 2025 and look forward to 2026!”

This latest campaign is a precautionary measure against any potential damage to these components.

Out of the total, 84,073 units are affected by an issue with the fuel pump impeller that may expand after being submerged in fuel for an extended period.

  • BR-V (2017-2018)
  • City (2014-2019)

According to Honda, these components may crack due to prolonged use and excessive pressure, which could lead to fuel leaks and the smell of petrol during driving or idling.

The cost of replacing the affected components will be fully covered by Honda Malaysia, with parts available progressively.

Owners affected will be notified via a notification letter, and customers can also check whether their vehicles are involved in the recall through the Honda Touch app.

Honda Malaysia has announced the appointment of Narushi Yazaki as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2025.

Narushi Yazaki succeeds Hironobu Yoshimura, who has led Honda Malaysia for the past three years and is currently serving at Honda’s headquarters in Tokyo.

According to Honda Malaysia, Yazaki has over 25 years of experience, holding key leadership positions in several countries, including the United States, Japan, and Thailand.

Prior to serving in Malaysia, Yazaki worked with Corporate Administration Operations at Honda Motor Co. Ltd., Tokyo, Japan.

“I am honored to take on this responsibility at Honda Malaysia, a market known for its dynamic growth and significant contributions to the Honda brand in the Asia and Oceania region.

“I aim to build on the strong foundation laid by my predecessors and continue driving Honda Malaysia’s growth and success in this thriving market,” he stated.

Under Yoshimura’s leadership, he played a vital role in maintaining Honda Malaysia’s position in the non-national passenger vehicle segment for 11 consecutive years.

He was also responsible for leading Honda Malaysia through the challenging period following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Honda Malaysia sets 83,000 unit sales target for 2025

Honda Malaysia said it aims to sell 83,000 vehicles in 2025 and capture a market share of 10.6%.

According to the company, this year’s target, which surpasses last year’s sales of 81,600 units by 1,400 units, is driven by the launch of three new models, including the Civic facelift in January.

Honda Malaysia stated that with continued strong demand for its existing lineup, it is confident of maintaining its leading position in the non-national passenger vehicle segment for the 12th consecutive year.

The company is confident that internal combustion engine and e:HEV technologies will stay relevant in the market, benefitting from infrastructure readiness, consumer preferences and technological advancements.

Last year, e:HEV models received significant feedback from the market, accounting for nearly 30% of total hybrid vehicle sales in Malaysia.

In line with its business direction for 2025, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia Hironobu Yoshimura said that the company will launch its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the e:N1.

“This model exemplifies Honda’s advanced BEV features, while also introducing the company’s initial EV technology to the Malaysian market,” he said.

He added that the launch of the e:N1 will pave the way for Honda Malaysia’s three-year plan to introduce three new BEV models to the Malaysian market by 2027.

In addition to enhancing its product offerings, Honda Malaysia indicated that it will improve its sales and after-sales services. The company currently operates 104 distribution centres nationwide.

Honda CR-V leads the mid-size SUV segment in 2024

Honda Malaysia has announced an impressive achievement, with the sixth-generation Honda CR-V SUV recording sales exceeding 11,300 units throughout 2024.

This achievement solidifies the CR-V’s status as the number one model in the mid-size SUV segment, capturing approximately 36 percent of the market share.

According to Hironobu Yoshimura, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia, “Since its launch in December 2023, the Honda CR-V has experienced strong demand, further reinforcing its dominant position in the market.”

He further stated that the CR-V is the third best-selling model throughout 2024.

Of the total CR-V sales, the 2.0L e:HEV RS hybrid variant accounted for 20 percent, leading with an 87 percent share in the mid-size hybrid SUV segment.

The petrol variants also performed well, with the E variant being the customers’ top choice, contributing to 40 percent of total CR-V sales.

For the Malaysian market, the Honda CR-V is available with the option of a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 193 PS and 243 Nm, or a 2.0L e:HEV hybrid engine with 184 PS and 335 Nm.

The exterior design of the CR-V features LED headlights and taillights, a distinctive front grille, and specific functions for the top variant, such as Active Cornering Lights and an Active Shutter Grille.

There are no changes to the rear apart from the taillights, which now have a darkened smoked effect.

As for the rolling stock, the e:HEV RS variant gets new 18-inch alloy wheels, while the other variants retain their previous designs.

The design and layout of the interior remain unchanged, although there have been several updates on the equipment front.

For example, a 9-inch audio display is now included as standard across all variants. It is now equipped with Google built-in that allows users to access services such as Assistant, Maps, and Play Store.

There are no changes under the bonnet. The petrol variants—E, V, and RS—are still powered by a 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo engine that produces 182 PS and 240 Nm, transmitted to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.

The Civic e:HEV RS retains its hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle engine with 143 PS/184 Nm, and an electric motor that generates 184 PS and 315 Nm.

In addition to the Econ, Normal, and Sport driving modes, the hybrid variant now features a new Individual mode.

The facelifted Civic will be offered in two RS variants: the e:HEV RS and the Petrol RS. Both models feature an RS body kit but can be distinguished by the front grille extension and lower grille garnishes, which are painted in body colour for the e:HEV and in black for the petrol variant.

Honda Malaysia has announced a proactive product update involving approximately 36,000 units of the Civic, Civic Type R, and CR-V.

According to the company, the activity is to update the Electric Power Steering (EPS) gearbox. The EPS gearbox worm wheel may swell and reduce grease film thickness, causing abnormal steering noise or sticky steering.

The models involved include Civic Year Model 2022-2024, Civic Type R Year Model 2023-2024, and CR-V Year Model 2024.

Honda Malaysia said it apologises for the inconvenience caused to affected customers and reassures that other current production and selling models are not affected in this product update.

“The company believes this proactive product update is necessary as customer safety is Honda Malaysia’s top priority,” it said in a statement.

All affected customers will be informed via notification letters, which will include details of the product update.

Honda Malaysia urges all customers involved in this update to contact any Honda authorised dealer to make an appointment upon receiving the notification, to have their vehicles inspected and/or repaired if required.

Honda Malaysia will bear the cost of inspection, repair or replacement of the affected parts in this activity. The replacement stock will be available in stages starting from December 2024.

Honda Insurance Plus upgraded, unlimited mileage towing and more

HONDA Malaysia has introduced the upgraded Honda Insurance Plus (HiP), providing the best-in-value automotive insurance plan exclusively for all Honda owners.

The improved HiP package offers a combination of three enhanced benefits including unlimited mileage towing, 100% pay-out up to 15 years, and 100% coverage on accidental repairs (no betterment) up to 13 years.

The upgraded HiP package focuses on three core pillars: Rescue, Protection, and Savings, to provide extended coverage for customers.

Rescue

The enhanced HiP is designed to provide customers with added assurance, including the benefit of unlimited mileage towing for accidents, breakdowns, and floods, while the roadside repair services offer free labour of up to RM200 per event, excluding spare parts.

Customers can call Honda Malaysia’s 24/7 HiP Emergency Assistance at 1-800-18-1177 for vehicle breakdown and accident assistance services. The 24/7 rescue team will be on call to assist customers with unforeseen incidents including flat tyres.

Protection

HiP members whose cars are repaired at a Honda Authorised Body & Paint Centre will benefit from fast claim pre approval for claims below RM30,000. All repairs are carried out using 100% genuine Honda parts with a warranty of six months or 10,000 km mileage.

The customers are also entitled to Personal Accident Coverage of up to RM15,000 in the event of Accidental Death or Permanent Disability in the Named Vehicle Car accident.

Savings

In the event that the vehicle is stolen or not repairable after an accident, the enhanced HiP plan guarantees 100% insurance payout based on the agreed value of the car for up to 15 years from the date of registration (up from 13 years).

Additionally, vehicles covered by this plan are entitled to enjoy 100% coverage for 13 years with no betterment fee, allowing for the replacement of old parts of a Honda vehicle damaged due to accidents with new and original parts.

The enhanced HiP will be rolled out starting 1 July 2024, and all existing and new Honda customers are welcome to renew or apply for their HiP package at any authorised Honda dealership.
