2026 GWM Tank 300 HEV officially launched in Malaysia – priced at RM259,800

GWM Malaysia has expanded its rugged SUV lineup with the official launch of the all-new 2026 Tank 300 HEV. This highly anticipated hybrid variant is positioned as a premium yet capable off-roader for the Malaysian market.

The Tank 300 HEV is offered in a single hybrid trim priced at RM259,800 (on-the-road, without insurance). To provide long-term peace of mind, GWM Malaysia is offering an industry-leading warranty package:

  • Lifetime Warranty on the engine and transmission (exclusive to the first individual owner).
  • 8-year or 180,000 km warranty on the high-voltage power battery.
  • 6-year unlimited mileage general vehicle and HEV system warranty.

Performance and Specifications

The Tank 300 HEV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 245 PS and 380 Nm, supplemented by an electric motor delivering 106 PS and 268 Nm. Together, the system generates a massive combined output of 346 PS and 648 Nm.

Power is managed via a specialized 9-speed Hybrid Automatic Transmission (9HAT). Despite its electrified heart, the SUV retains its legendary off-road DNA, featuring:

  • A robust on-demand four-wheel-drive system.
  • 4L low-range gearing for extreme terrain.
  • Multiple driving modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and 4L.
  • Tank Turn Assist, which reduces the turning radius in tight spots.
  • Crawl Control (CCO) for steady, low-speed technical maneuvers.

Exterior and Interior Features

The hybrid SUV is available in Crystal Black, Pearl White, and an exclusive Sand Beige—a color reserved strictly for the HEV variant. While it maintains its iconic boxy exterior, the cabin is packed with luxury and modern technology, including:

  • Premium Nappa leather upholstery.
  • Dual 12.3-inch screens (digital instrument cluster and infotainment system).

GWM’s first V8 PHEV supercar is set to compete with Yangwang U9

The world of supercars is set to be enlivened by the arrival of a new contender from yet another Chinese manufacturer, GWM.

A teaser image was uploaded by GWM Chairman Wei Jianjun on the social media platform Weibo during the 35th anniversary celebration of Great Wall Motor.

The supercar is still covered in black cloth, but we can see it is a genuine supercar based on its long, low, and wide dimensions.

At the front, distinct lines indicate the positioning of the headlights on the fender, along with an aggressive bumper opening.

The side view features additional cooling inlet openings, further confirming that this supercar will have a mid-engine configuration.

The official specifications of the vehicle are still under wraps, but GWM is expected to pair this supercar with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine featuring a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system.

This new engine unit made its debut at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show recently and has been developed entirely in-house by GWM.

According to GWM Chief Technology Officer Wu Huixiao, this first supercar has undergone a five-year development program.

He further stated that they are employing a high-performance approach while still offering a price point lower than that of competitors.

Huixiao also revealed that the supercar will be built on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis and is said to be “far superior to the Ferrari SF90 model.”

GWM’s first supercar is set to be officially unveiled by the end of this year, with a price tag of under 1 million yuan (approximately RM590,000).

Winner of GWM Haval G6 HEV fuel efficiency challenge covered 1,204 km on one full tank

Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has announced the winners of the ‘GWM HAVAL H6 HEV Fuel Efficiency Challenge: Drive Further, Win Bigger’ campaign, which took place from 20 January to 9 February 2025.

In the campaign, participants pushed the limits of their own vehicles to achieve top mileage by driving on one full tank.

The champion of the challenge, Koh Hui Min from Kelantan covered an impressive 1,204 km, thereby highlighting the Haval H6 HEV’s exceptional fuel efficiency over long distances.

Here are the top six winners with their recorded distances:

  1. Koh Hui Min (1,204 km)
  2. Lee Keat Teng (1,127 km)
  3. Hasif Radzi (1,120 km)
  4. Teh Harn Jian (1,102 km)
  5. Tan Cheng Yang (1,101 km)
  6. Mohd Syarizal bin Mohd Noor (1,077 km)

“These remarkable achievements have proven this hybrid-powered SUV’s capacity to achieve better fuel economy without compromising on vehicle performance,” said Cui Anqi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia.

Launched in October last year, the Haval H6 HEV features a combination of a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine and an electric motor, producing a total power output of 243 PS and 530 Nm. Power is transmitted to the wheels via a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) with two-speed ratios.

GWM says the Haval H6 HEV has a claimed fuel consumption rating of 5.8 litres/100 km, meaning it can travel more than 1,000 km on one full tank.

The second round of this challenge is currently underway from February 17 to March 9, 2025. The top six winners will have the opportunity to win petrol cards worth RM1 for every kilometre successfully completed.

GWM showcases new PHEV technology, launches off-road initiative in Changbaishan

When we talk about off-road driving, several brands and models of vehicles suitable for this purpose inevitably come to mind.

However, it’s important to note that Chinese automotive manufacturers are no longer lagging far behind as they once were.

In fact, with the advent of various new and rugged technologies, they are now able to stand shoulder to shoulder with leading brands around the world.

From January 9 to 15, GWM held an event known as the Ice & Snow Festival in the mountainous region of Changbai, Jilin Province.

There, we were given the opportunity to personally test the capabilities of the Haval, Tank, and Poer off-road vehicle lineup as they maneuvered through extreme icy and snowy paths in temperatures plummeting to negative 30 degrees Celsius.

Despite being equipped with standard factory specifications without any modifications, all of these off-road vehicles proved their true capabilities by successfully navigating a variety of terrains around the Huamei Resort.

A major highlight of the Ice & Snow Festival was the introduction of a new plug-in hybrid system through the Tank 500 Hi4-Z model.

Compared to the more “hardcore” Hi4-T hybrid system, the Hi4-Z no longer features a drive shaft connecting the engine to the rear axle.

Instead, the rear wheels are now powered by an electric motor.

As a result, GWM is able to include a larger capacity battery pack (59.05 kWh) that offers an emission-free range of up to 200 km!

With a 2.0-liter turbo engine (248 hp/380 Nm) paired with two electric motors, the Hi4-Z system can produce a total power output of 852 hp and torque of 1,195 Nm.

This allows the Tank 500 Hi4-Z to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

In addition, GWM also launched the GWM Off-Road Alliance initiative.

This latest initiative aims to strengthen the global off-road community by offering various activities such as off-road driving technique training and optimizing vehicle performance for different terrain types.

GWM also introduced an off-road trail grading system (on a scale of 1 to 10) that provides a clearer framework for tackling various terrain conditions.

For drivers in Malaysia, this grading system can serve as a reference for preparing to face challenges such as sandy coastal areas, muddy farm tracks, and steep mountainous roads.

All of this is designed to ensure that the off-road community can enjoy challenging journeys more safely while also having a fun experience.

EPMB celebrates 1,000th production milestone, plans to assemble GWM, BAIC models next year

EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) recently celebrated an important milestone with the production of its 1,000th vehicle at the Pegoh assembly plant in Melaka.

According to Mr. Hamidon Abdullah, the Executive Chairman of EPMB, “Today marks the beginning of a new era for EPMB. Reflecting on the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, we remained resilient and are now building a solid foundation for the future.

“The first phase of the vehicle assembly plant in Pegoh, Melaka, is a testament to our vision. Our collaboration with GWM has achieved significant success, and this momentum will continue as we prepare to assemble additional GWM models.

“We expect the capacity of Phase 1 to be fully utilized by the end of 2025. For Phase 2, production capacity will be enhanced by an additional 30,000 units per year, while Phase 3 will focus on vehicle body manufacturing and painting processes.”

It is understood that EPMB plans to assemble several GWM models, including the Jolion HEV (Q2 2025) and Wey 80 (Q4 2025), as well as two BAIC models, the Beijing X55 and BJ40 (Q1 2025).

The plant, located in Alor Gajah, has an annual production capacity of 15,000 units and a workforce of 160 employees.

EPMB is also prioritizing the localization of vehicle components to strengthen the local automotive industry.

Through facilities in Kulim, Tanjung Malim, Batang Kali, Shah Alam, and Melaka, EPMB has begun the localization of essential components for GWM vehicles, including seats, steering column frames, rear axles, suspension systems, brakes, instrument panels, center consoles, and door trim panels.

GWM Tank 500, Wey 80 previewed at KLIMS 2024

The Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024 has seen the unveiling of two new models from Great Wall Motor (GWM), namely the Tank 500 and the Wey 80.

According to GWM Malaysia, the SUV and MPV are set to be launched in the Malaysian market in 2025, although the exact date has not yet been disclosed.

Tank 500

Like the Tank 300, which was launched here last July, the Tank 500 is also an off-road SUV but it is a much larger one, measuring 5,078 mm in length, 1,934 mm in width, and 1,905 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm.

In China, the Tank 500 is offered with several types of powertrains but the showcased unit is the hybrid variant featuring a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 342 PS and 648 Nm of torque.

The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission that drives the wheels through a four-wheel-drive system.

Available features include 11 driving modes, a tank turn function, Off-Road Cruise Control, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 14.6-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as ADAS driver assistance systems.

While the price has not been announced, considering that the Tank 300 starts at RM250,000, the Tank 800 is likely to be priced around RM350,000.

Wey 80

Also known as the Gaoshan in China, the Wey 80 is a seven-seat MPV from GWM’s luxury sub-brand, Wey.

The model features a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which GWM calls as Dedicated Hybrid Technology (DHT). It combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a pair of electric motors, generating a total system output of 487 PS (358 kW) and 762 Nm of torque.

Additionally, the powertrain comes with a 37.96 kWh battery, providing an electric driving range of up to 150 km based on the very optimistic CLTC cycle.

In terms of size, the Wey 80 measures 5,045 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,900 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,085 mm. It can accommodate up to seven passengers with a seating configuration of 2-2-3.

Key features include premium leather upholstery, Zero Gravity seats, captain’s chairs in the second row, a 12.5-litre fridge, a panoramic roof, and a Harman Kardon audio system with 16 speakers.

In case you missed it, the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024 is set to open its curtains from December 5 to 11, 2024 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

According to organiser Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), the event, themed ‘Beyond Mobility’, will feature nearly 70 exhibitors, with an exhibition area covering almost 30,000 square feet across two floors of the MITEC building.

For those planning to attend, here are some of the exciting cars that will make their appearance at the event:

Perodua EMO-II

Undoubtedly, Perodua is set to capture visitors’ attention with their electric concept model, the EMO-II (Electric Mobility Online). The concept car previews the production version of Perodua’s first electric vehicle, which is expected to be launched in the market later this year.

Proton e.MAS 7

Although not officially announced, Proton’s first electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7, is highly likely to make its debut at KLIMS 2024. It will be available with two battery pack options, with an estimated price of RM120,000.

Honda Prelude Concept

Another brand that will undoubtedly attract attention at KLIMS 2024 is Honda. In addition to its latest model lineup, Honda Malaysia has announced that it will also showcase the Prelude Concept, making Malaysia the first country in Asia, besides Japan, to exhibit the hybrid coupe.

Mazda CX-60

For devoted Mazda fans, Bermaz Motor will be showcasing two upcoming SUVs, the CX-60 and CX-80. Built on the SkyActiv Multi Solution Scalable Architecture platform, the former offers petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain options, with rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive capabilities.

Mazda CX-80

Like the CX-60, the CX-80 also belongs to Mazda’s Large Product group but offers three rows of seating. The powertrain options are similar to the CX-60, featuring inline six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, PHEV, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and AWD or RWD systems.

Toyota Camry

Following its launch in Thailand last October, the ninth-generation Toyota Camry (XV80) will make its debut in Malaysia this week. The D-segment sedan is powered by a 2.5-litre hybrid engine combined with an e-CVT transmission, producing a total system output of 227 PS.

Toyota Corolla Cross

In addition to the Camry, UMW Toyota Motor will also introduce the facelifted version of the Corolla Cross, which has already been open for orders since November. Along with a refreshed exterior design, the SUV will also feature several new enhancements, including an electronic parking brake, Auto Hold, and improved driver-assistance systems.

Nissan Kicks e-Power

As previously reported, the Nissan Kicks e-Power will be available as a fully imported version (CBU) from Thailand, with two variants: VL and VLT. It features a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that acts as a generator to charge the battery pack, which in return powers the electric motor on the front axle.

MG Cyberster

Without a doubt, among the standout cars at KLIMS 2024 will be the MG Cyberster, an electric roadster powered by two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 503 PS and 725 Nm. This allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

GWM Wey 80

Wey is a luxury sub-brand under Great Wall Motor (GWM). While it is still uncertain whether the luxury marque will be officially launched in the local market, it is certainly a possibility if the Wey 80 MPV receives a positive response at the show.

5 exciting EVs priced from RM100,000 to RM150,000

FACTORS such as tax and duty exemptions, as well as the influx of new and exciting models into the local market have made electric vehicles (EVs) increasingly popular in Malaysia.

According to a report from Berita Harian, the registration of new EVs in the country has reached 10,700 units in the first half of this year, representing an increase of more than twice the 4,400 units achieved in the same period last year.

EVs, in general, are stuffed with a plethora of new technologies but thanks to the aforementioned tax and duty exemptions by the Malaysian government, the prices are rather reasonable, starting from just RM100,000.

For those who are looking to switch to EVs without having to spend too much, here are five attractive EVs priced between RM100,000 and RM150,000:

BYD Dolphin

The Dolphin was launched back in July 2023 with two variants to choose from, namely the Dynamic Standard Range (SR) and the Premium Extended Range (ER). Prices start from RM100,530 for the former and RM125,530 for the latter.

The difference between the two lies in the range and charging speed. The SR offers a range of up to 410 km (based on the WLTP cycle), while the ER can go up to 490 km on a full charge.

GWM Ora Good Cat

Those who are in the market for a stylish EV may consider the Ora Good Cat, which was officially launched by GWM Malaysia. There are two two variants – 400 Pro (RM113,800) and 500 Ultra (RM143,800).

Concerned about the quality of Chinese-made cars? Fret not as the Ora Good Cat comes with a 5-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/180,000 km warranty for the battery, electric motor, and control unit.

MG4

The MG4 is one of the two EVs launched by SAIC Motor Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. back in March this year. It is a hatchback with a bold exterior design, a perfect fit for young individuals who want to stand out on the road.

What’s interesting about the MG4 is that is available in Standard, Lux, Lux Extended Range variants, with prices ranging from RM103,900 to RM148,900. There’s also a high-performance guise called the XPower, slightly exceeding the RM150,000 mark.

GAC Aion Y Plus

Introduced by WTC Automotif at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 last May, the Aion Y Plus is essentially an SUV but thanks to its roomy interior, coupled with front seats that can be fully reclined, it feels more like an MPV.

Two variants are offered – Elite and Premium, with sales prices ranging from RM119,800 to RM135,800. Both variants are equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery (dubbed Magazine Battery 2.0) with a capacity of 63.2 kWh that boasts a range of up to 490 km.

Chery Omoda E5

Another electric SUV available below the RM150,000 mark is the Chery Omoda E5, which can be yours from RM146,800. It is essentially the electric version of the ICE-powered Omoda 5, which means you are getting a vehicle with similar styling and size but with a an electric motor driving the front wheels.

The Omoda E5 comes equipped with a 61 kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 430 km. The battery can be charged from 30 to 80% in just 28 minutes. To sweeten the deal, Chery Malaysia is offering a one-to-one exchange if the battery’s state of health falls below 70% during the warranty period.

GWM wants you to put the Tank 300 to test at M4TREC this weekend

Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has announced that it will organise an off-road test drive event on July 20 and 21, 2024, at M4TREC, a 4WD training and experience centre in Semenyih.

This event will provide an opportunity for the public to experience firsthand the capabilities and performance of the Tank 300 traversing through custom-made challenges and obstacles at M4TREC.

Additionally, participants will be given training from expert instructors on how to tackle any rugged terrain during their outdoor adventures.

There will be several obstacles at the experience centre, such as Log Bridge, Axle Twister, Ridge Crossing, Log Track, Hill Descent, Hill Climb and others.

Mike Cui An Qi, Managing Director of GWM Malaysia says the company wants the public to experience the performance and capabilities of the Tank 300 in a variety of road conditions.

“To ensure this, we have arranged for experienced instructors to guide participants as they confidently take on the off-road challenges. This enables them to fully utilise the off-road intelligent features and conquer all terrains,” he added.

The Tank 300 was officially launched on July 12 with a starting price of RM250,000. Fully imported from China, the rugged SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine making 220 PS and 380 Nm.

GWM Tank 300 officially launched at RM250,000

Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia has announced the official launch of the Tank 300 for the Malaysian market, just a few days after the first batch of the luxury off-road SUV arrived at Port Klang.

The Tank 300 is fully imported from China and comes with a price tag of RM250,000, with a standard six-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty.

Powering the Tank 300 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 220 PS and 380 Nm. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a part-time 4WD system with 2H, 4H, and 4L modes, as well as front and rear differentials.

While described as luxurious, the Tank 300 is made for the great outdoors. It has a ground clearance of 224 mm, the ability to climb gradients of up to 70%, approach and departure angles of 33° and 34° respectively, and 700 mm water wading capability.

Additionally, the Tank 300 also has a Tank Turn feature that locks the inner rear wheel to allow the SUV to make tight turns in narrow areas.

Other niceties include Crawl Control (CCO), Transparent Chassis that provides visibility beneath the vehicle, and nine driving modes that includes Standard (2H), Standard (4H), Snow Mode (4H), 4L Mode (Normal, Mud/Sand, Pothole, Mountain, Rock) and Expert Mode.

The Tank 300 comes standard with LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, black Nappa leather upholstery, 12.3-inch instrument panel, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, ambient lighting with 64 colours, and a nine-speaker Infinity audio system.

The SUV is also equipped with Level 2 ADAS with features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Intelligent Cruise Assistance (ICA), Lane Central Keeping (LCK), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), among others.

On top of that, there is a 360-degree camera, as well as with auto collision unlocking and auto collision fuel cut-off. All these features enable the Tank 300 to be given a 5-star ANCAP safety rating.

As a gesture of appreciation, the first 300 Tank 300 owners will receive free maintenance for five years/100,000 km (including labour and parts, applicable every 10,000 km or every six months) and an unlimited mileage lifetime warranty for the engine and transmission, although it has to be noted that this is limited to the first-hand owner.

The first 300 customers will also receive a GWM x Thule adventure kit consisting of Thule vouchers worth RM8,000 and a Paramount Thule backpack worth RM999.

The Great Wall Motor (GWM) Tank 300 sales unit has now arrived at Port Klang, perhaps some of you who have placed orders will be receiving your cars early?

These images have been released by GWM Malaysia. According to them, the Tank 300 SUV is set to be launched in the middle of this month with deliveries to follow shortly thereafter.

We have also gotten a closer look at the GWM Tank 300 in several preview sessions including at the recent Malaysia Autoshow 2024.

The GWM Tank 300 is an SUV with a rugged appearance, a premium interior cabin, and an estimated price of around RM250,000.

As stated previously, the GWM Tank 300 for the Malaysian market is likely to be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo petrol 4-cylinder engine with an output of 217hp and 380Nm of torque.

This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and a part-time all-wheel-drive system with 2H, 4H, and 4L functions. This system also comes complete with front and rear differential locks.

Interesting enough, the GWM Tank 300 has a ‘tank turn’ feature. When activated, it locks the inner rear wheels to allow the SUV to make tight turns in narrow spaces. This movement is similar to tracked vehicles like tanks and excavators.

As seen, this SUV embodies a classic 4×4 look with a boxy design and thick side cladding. The front end features round LED headlights, while fog lights are integrated into the bumper.

At the rear, there is a spare tire mounted outside the side-hinged rear door, reminiscent of classic Jeeps. The Tank 300 comes equipped with 18-inch rims and Michelin Primacy SUV tires.

Inside, you’ll notice that the interior is quite premium, possibly inspired by the Mercedes G-Class. With a vertical dashboard, turbine air vents, a passenger-side grab handle, and a pair of 12.3-inch screens each.

According to GWM, the first 300 purchasers of this SUV will receive a complimentary five-year maintenance package OR 100,000km.

The initial owners will also receive a lifetime engine and gearbox warranty, without any mileage restrictions.

Great Wall Motor Malaysia has announced that GWM will debut their new SUV, the Tank 300, at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024 next week. The GWM Tank 300 was previously showcased a few months ago, but its public debut will take place at the upcoming motor show.

Initially scheduled for release in the third quarter of this year, the latest development indicates an earlier launch in the second quarter. Therefore, it is not far away.

For the Malaysian market, the Tank 300 is expected to be offered in a non-hybrid variant, featuring a 2.0-liter turbo petrol 4-cylinder engine generating 217hp and 380Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a part-time all-wheel-drive system with 2H, 4H, and 4L functions. The system is also equipped with front and rear differential locks.

Notably, the GWM Tank 300 features a ‘tank turn’ function. When activated, it locks the inner rear tires to enable the SUV to make tight turns in confined spaces. This maneuver is reminiscent of tracked vehicles such as tanks and excavators.

As can be seen, the SUV presents a classic 4×4 appearance with a boxy design and thick side cladding. Its front end boasts round LED headlights, while fog lights are integrated into the bumper.

GMW Tank 300 in Malaysia – Rugged styling, tank turn function, launch Q3 2024

DURING the Ora 07 preview last month, GWM Malaysia made a surprise reveal by showcasing the Tank 300, scheduled to be launched around the third quarter of this year.

The GWM Tank 300 is an SUV with a rugged appearance and a premium interior cabin, but with the unique ability to perform a ‘tank turn’.

The specific variant to be launched in Malaysia is not confirmed yet, but it is believed that the preview unit is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo petrol 4-cylinder engine with an output of 217hp and 380Nm of torque.

This engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a part-time all-wheel-drive system with 2H, 4H, and 4L modes. The system is also equipped with front and rear differential locks.

Notably, the GWM Tank 300 features a ‘tank turn’ function. When activated, it locks the inner rear tires to enable the SUV to make tight turns in confined areas. This movement is similar to that of tracked vehicles such as tanks and excavators.

Visually, the SUV presents a classic 4×4 appearance with a boxy design and thick side cladding. The front end boasts round LED headlights with integrated fog lights in the bumper.

At the rear, there is an externally mounted spare tire door that opens to the side, reminiscent of classic Jeeps. The Tank 300 comes equipped with 18-inch rims and Michelin Primacy SUV tires.

GWM Ora 07 previewed in Malaysia – Two variants, up to 408PS, 640km range

After opening its bookings a few days ago, Great Wall Motor Malaysia (GWM Malaysia) presented the Ora 07 to the media practitioners today.

This four-door electric sedan coupe (EV) is offered in two variants for Malaysia – Long Range and Performance. Both models come equipped with an 83.499kWh battery pack.

The Long Range variant features a single front-mounted electric motor delivering 204PS/340Nm of power and a driving range of up to 640km.

On the other hand, the Ora 07 is equipped with two electric motors, providing a total output of 408PS and 680Nm of torque. It offers a slightly lower driving range of 550km, but can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds with this variant. The GWM Ora 07 has an 11kW AC charging capacity, while the rapid DC charging is at 88kW.

GWM Malaysia did not disclose any details regarding the charging time, but their representative informed us that 10 to 80 percent charging can be achieved in less than an hour.

Beyond the numbers, what about the appearance of the GWM Ora 07? Standard features include smart LED lights, frameless windows, panoramic glass roof, and an adaptive rear spoiler.

Its cabin is designed with a T-shaped center console, front seats with massage function, and two large screens for the instrument panel and infotainment, each measuring 10.25 inches and 12.3 inches, respectively.

Safety features available on the Ora 07 include Lane Departure System, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Detection, as well as features like a 360-degree camera, Intelligent Evasion, Traffic Sign Recognition, Cruise Speed Limit, and more.

GWM Ora 07 to launch in Malaysia in Q1 2024

ON January 18, Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia uploaded a teaser image of the Ora 07, indicating the imminent arrival of the model.

Now, the company has officially confirmed that the Ora 07 will be launched in Malaysia in the first quarter of this year.

Not only that, initial specifications of the fully electric fastback sedan have also been revealed. It will be offered in two configurations: a single electric motor offering a range of 640 km and a dual electric motor with a range of 550 km.

Notably, the driving range figures for both configurations mirror that of the Thai-spec Ora 07, which was launched in the country back in December.

There, the Long Range variant features a single electric motor on the front axle making 204 PS/340 Nm, allowing it to accelerate up to 170 km/h. A 83.5 kWh battery provides a range of up to 640 km.

The second variant, called Performance, is equipped with a pair of electric motors producing a total power of 408 PS/680 Nm. It has the same battery but a shorter driving range of 550 km.

Additionally, the Ora 07 for the Malaysian market will also come with an adaptive electric spoiler and a frameless door design.
