SDAC-Ford celebrates owner community throughout Merdeka month

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford, the sole distributor of Ford in Malaysia has rolled out a series of engaging activities to celebrate its growing community of owners.

This initiative follows the company’s latest milestone, having delivered more than 24,000 units of the Ford Ranger nationwide.

Among the activities organised are Ford Nation and Ford Ranger Getaways.

Ford Nation

The inaugural Ford Nation event was held in early August at Heritage Valley, Kuala Lumpur.

The gathering featured various activities including memory-sharing sessions and live music performances by Muzza & the Velvettones and Joy Victor, accompanied by BBQ and local food offerings.

The event also included lucky draws, competitions, and special awards such as Most Stylish Ranger and Longest‑Serving Ford Owner.

Ford Ranger Getaways

Auto ConneXion-Ford also showcased the “Live the Ranger Life” experience through the Ford Ranger Getaways programme.

Bringing together 20 Ranger owners, participants travelled in a convoy to the campsite at StarFresh Agro Park, Negeri Sembilan.

There, they underwent an off-road driving course guided by certified instructors and experienced the Ranger’s off-road assistance and control features firsthand.

The programme also tested teamwork and precision through a series of challenges and interactive games.

Held quarterly since its launch in 2022, Ford Ranger Getaways continues to be one of the brand’s most popular lifestyle and experience-based activities.

Expanded Model Line-up

Auto ConneXion-Ford previously announced a wider range of Ranger and Everest models to cater to diverse lifestyle needs.

Customers can opt for the Ford Ranger Sport 2.0L/3.0L or the Ranger Platinum 3.0L.

For SUV buyers, the Everest Platinum is available in both 2.0L and 3.0L V6 variants for a more premium driving experience.

Enhanced Ownership Experience

Auto ConneXion-Ford continues to improve the ownership journey through customer-focused initiatives and added aftersales value.

A new parts warehouse was launched in Kota Kinabalu in July to ensure faster access to spare parts and quicker turnaround times for customers.

To date, Auto ConneXion-Ford operates 33 dealerships nationwide, including seven dealerships and two dedicated service centres in East Malaysia.

Buyers of the Ranger XL and Ranger Sport 2.0L will receive a front dashcam, valid until 31 August 2026.

Purchases of the Ranger Sport 3.0L and Ranger Platinum 3.0L will come with a complimentary two-year Extended Service Plan (ESP), subject to terms and conditions.

2025 Ford Ranger PHEV debuts, with 275 hp and 690 Nm, 45 km EV range

Approximately a year after the announcement was made, Ford has officially launched the mid-size pickup truck Ford Ranger plug-in hybrid (PHEV) at the IAA Transportation 2024, Hannover.

The 2025 Ford Ranger PHEV is powered by the EcoBoost 2.3-liter turbo engine paired with a single 101 hp electric motor placed within the transmission bellhousing.

Overall, this PHEV can generate up to 275 hp and 690 Nm, much more powerful than the existing petrol and diesel engines for the Ranger (except for the Raptor).

This power is transmitted to the wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission and the e-4WD system, featuring a rear differential lock and a two-range transfer case.

The 11.8 kWh battery pack allows this pickup truck to travel emission-free for up to 45 km, with a full charge possible in less than four hours.

In addition to the regenerative braking function, the Ford Ranger PHEV is also equipped with the Pro Power Onboard system, enabling owners to use power tools, charge electronic devices, or use it as a generator for off-grid activities.

As standard, the Pro Power Onboard system provides 2.3 kW of power, with an option for 6.9 kW.

Due to the addition of the PHEV system, Ford engineers have tweaked the pickup truck’s suspension system, yet it is still capable of carrying a payload of up to 1 ton and towing loads of up to 3,500 kg.

Externally, the appearance of the Ford Ranger PHEV 2025 is identical to the standard Ford Ranger, except for the presence of a charging port located near the fuel tank cap on the rear fender.

At the same time, Ford has also launched the special edition Ranger Stormtrak exclusively for the Ranger PHEV.

Unique features include 18-inch alloy wheels, honeycomb patterns on the grille, special decals, PHEV badging, and the exclusive Chill Grey color.

Additionally, the Ranger Stormtrak is equipped with Matrix LED headlights, a Flexible Rack System in the rear bed, a B&O sound system with 10 speakers, a 12-inch infotainment screen, and a 360-degree surround-view camera.

The Ford Ranger PHEV will be produced at the Silverton plant in South Africa and will be exported to the markets in Australia, Europe, and New Zealand in time for the spring of 2025.
