GWM Malaysia has announced that the first Ora 5 Hi2 HEV has rolled off the production line at EP Manufacturing Bhd’s (EPMB) plant in Melaka.
The new model will officially launch in Malaysia this November, with an estimated price below RM115,000.
Specifications
The Ora 5 Hi2 HEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with an electric motor, producing a total output of 223 PS and 476 Nm of torque.
Power is delivered through a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), while the hybrid system does not require external charging.
According to GWM, the model offers fuel consumption as low as 4.4 litres/100 km and a total driving range exceeding 1,100 km.
Recognition for design and efficiency
The Ora 5 also won Design of the Year at the London Design Awards 2025, making it the world’s first production car to receive the accolade.
The model also won the Best Interior Design Award (Family Car) at TADA 2026.
In addition, the Ora 5 HEV secured a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the lowest fuel consumption by a production hybrid-electric SUV on a journey through all of China’s centrally administered municipalities.
It recorded 3.74 litres/100 km over a journey of 3,004 km.
Expanding GWM’s locally assembled lineup
The Ora 5 Hi2 HEV is GWM’s latest locally assembled model, joining the Haval H6 HEV, WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV and its HEV version.
To date, more than 10,000 GWM vehicles have been assembled in Malaysia, while over 1,100 locally assembled WEY G9 units have been exported to Thailand and Indonesia.
Customers can place orders for the Ora 5 Hi2 HEV through authorised GWM dealers nationwide.
Fourth-anniversary promotions
To celebrate its fourth anniversary, GWM Malaysia is offering an Ora 5 Hi2 HEV as the grand lucky draw prize for customers who purchase a GWM vehicle in November or December 2026.
The winner will be announced in January 2027.
Two separate monthly lucky draws will also take place in November and December, offering prizes worth up to RM100,000 in total.
