EICMA 2026: 2027 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade unveiled, adds HRC Works Edition variant

Honda unveiled the fully redesigned 2027 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade at EICMA 2026 with three variants in the lineup.

Developed under the concept of “Total Control for the Track”, approximately 75% of the motorcycle’s components have been newly designed to improve competitiveness on the racetrack and enhance riding enjoyment.

The lineup comprises:

  • Standard Fireblade
  • Fireblade SP
  • HRC Works Edition

The HRC Works Edition is a new homologation variant for the Superbike World Championship (WSBK) and is also designed for road use.

Specifications

The 2027 Fireblade uses a 999 cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four engine, producing 218 hp at 14,000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm.

For the first time on a production Honda motorcycle, the engine features a two-stage variable-length intake funnel system.

At 11,750 rpm and above, the upper section of the funnel moves upwards and separates from the lower section. This system improves low-to-mid-range power while maintaining high-rpm performance.

The two-motor throttle-by-wire system has also been refined to improve acceleration response, engine braking control and the transition from deceleration to acceleration.

Replacing aluminium with magnesium in selected components, including the cylinder head cover, reduces weight by more than 200 grams on the Fireblade SP.

Chassis and suspension

The new aluminium twin-tube frame reduces lateral rigidity by 20% while maintaining torsional rigidity. Frame weight has also been reduced by 440 grams.

The aluminium swingarm has been redesigned, with the pivot shaft diameter reduced from 20 mm to 17 mm.

Its lateral rigidity is reduced by 12% without compromising torsional rigidity, improving rear tyre contact feel when cornering.

The standard Fireblade uses a Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF) at the front and a Showa BFRC-lite rear shock absorber.

Meanwhile, the Fireblade SP features Öhlins Smart-EC3.0 electronically controlled suspension, comprising an NXP front fork and a TTX36 rear shock absorber.

Damping settings for each variant are optimised for track use while improving the suspension’s ability to absorb uneven surfaces during everyday riding.

A titanium fuel tank without an external plastic cover is also used to reduce weight.

The SP variant receives a hand-finished hairline treatment that leaves portions of the titanium surface exposed.

Track-focused HRC Works Edition

The HRC Works Edition is designed exclusively for solo riding.

It features components made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP), including:

  • Front winglets
  • Front fender
  • Air duct fairing

Its suspension comprises an Öhlins NPX front fork and TTX36 rear shock absorber with mechanical adjustment, while the braking system uses Brembo Hypure Sports components.

Available HRC Racing Kit components include:

  • PGM-FI and ignition control unit
  • A gearshift system with neutral in the lowest position
  • Steering head collar
  • Swingarm pivot collar
  • Other racing components

Greater use of sustainable materials

All variants incorporate four categories of sustainable materials, including a plant-derived DURABIO™ windscreen, alongside recycled materials used in the seat bases, air cleaner case and side covers.

The new silver-and-black Honda Flagship WING emblem uses chemically recycled acrylic resin.
