Castrol wins Asia Automotive Brand Trust award

In January, Castrol Malaysia received the Brand Trust & Market Leadership Award at the 5th Asia Automotive Award in Bangkok, Thailand, a recognition spanning 11 Asian markets and awarded to brands that have earned the confidence of mechanics and service professionals across the region.

Mechanic trust as the new benchmark

Castrol’s recognition reflects its deep engagement with the mechanic community in Malaysia.

Through more than 3,000 Castrol-branded workshops nationwide, including Castrol Auto Service and Castrol Bike Point networks, the brand supports up to half a million motorists each month.

This footprint strengthens mechanics as trusted advisors, positioning Castrol as the reference point many motorists in Malaysia turn to when making engine-care decisions.

“Trust at the workshop level is built over time through consistent performance and close collaboration with mechanics. This award reflects the confidence mechanics have placed in Castrol, and we value the role mechanics play in helping motorists make the right engine-care decisions every day,” said Joshua Tan, Head of Marketing Castrol Malaysia & Singapore.

Building affinity through real-world relevance

As vehicles become more complex, with hybrids, electrification and new thermal demands shifting the technical landscape, the role of mechanics as advisors only grows.

Castrol’s investments in digital enablers such as the Castrol Motorist App and enhanced workshop visibility tools are designed to support this evolution, giving motorists clearer guidance, transparency and accessibility in their servicing decisions.

The Asia Automotive Award, held in Thailand, is regarded as a key regional benchmark for credibility across manufacturers, service providers and aftermarket brands.

Castrol’s win in the Brand Trust & Market Leadership category reflects the brand’s long-standing relevance in workshops, and how trust gained upstream continues to make a difference downstream, for everyday motorists.

Over 400 participants competed in Castrol’s simracing championship

The Unleashed Youth Simracing Championship has officially concluded at Sunway Pyramid on August 17.

The final round of the championship, organized by Cove Circuit and sponsored by Castrol Malaysia, saw over 400 participants from across Malaysia competing for a total prize pool of RM30,000.

More than 349 competitors participated in the male category, while the female category featured 93 racers, highlighting the increasing interest in sim racing among women.

The male category champion took home a grand prize of RM6,000, while the female category champion received RM3,000.

Visitors were also entertained by Malaysian motorsports icon Leona Chin, singer Ismail Izzani, content creator Taufiq Hannafi, and other local personalities.

The championship was part of Castrol’s broader initiative that combined the excitement of motorsports with an engine care awareness campaign through a series of roadshows at several universities in the Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor Bahru.

In addition to demonstrations on the proper use of engine oil—such as Castrol EDGE, which can enhance power, acceleration, and engine durability—consumers also enjoyed exclusive promotions for Castrol EDGE and Castrol MAGNATEC products throughout the event.

Also this year, Castrol successfully captured the attention of over 100,000 visitors at the Tokyo Auto Salon Kuala Lumpur (TASKL) with a display of a Castrol livery painting on the legendary JDM Nissan Silvia S14 by Zameer Pentbrush, alongside interactive activities and opportunities to win various exciting prizes.

Castrol CRB Turbomax: suitable for heavy and light-duty vehicles

Castrol Malaysia has announced two new lubricant products under the Castrol CRB Turbomax brand: Castrol CRB Turbomax 10W-40 CK-4/E9 and Castrol CRB Turbomax 5W-40 CK-4/SN.

Both of these lubricants are specifically designed to meet the needs of commercial vehicles, ranging from heavy-duty trucks to light-duty vehicles.

Featuring Durashield™ technology, these new lubricants protect engines from heat, deposits, and friction, extending engine lifespan to ensure smooth operation even in challenging conditions.

Castrol CRB Turbomax 10W-40 CK-4/E9 is a synthetic technology engine oil suitable for high-speed four-stroke diesel engines and is compatible with diesel engines equipped with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems.

Meanwhile, Castrol CRB Turbomax 5W-40 CK-4/SN is a fully synthetic oil designed for light commercial vehicles such as pickups, vans, and small trucks.

It also offers 3X protection (against heat, deposits, and friction) comparable to heavy-duty engine oils.

Performance tests indicate that Castrol CRB Turbomax 5W-40 CK-4/SN achieves 50% better protection against friction.

Both oils are also compatible with biodiesel, making them a more environmentally friendly fuel choice.
