Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza takes delivery of Malaysia’s first GWM WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV

GWM Malaysia today officially handed over the first locally assembled GWM WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV to national icon Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza, marking a pivotal milestone in the brand’s New Energy journey in Malaysia.

The handover ceremony took place at GWM USJ, following the recent launch at MITEC in January.

At the official debut, Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza was also introduced as the official WEY G9 brand ambassador, reflecting the model’s positioning as a refined and intelligent MPV designed to support both modern family life and professional commitments.

Roslan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of GWM Malaysia, said the handover reflects GWM’s confidence in the Malaysian market. “We are honoured to present the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV to Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza as its first owner and brand ambassador.

“Defined by advanced safety, comfort, sophisticated comfort and intelligent technology, the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV is designed for discerning drivers who value performance, elegance and confidence with every journey.

Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza also described receiving the WEY G9 as a meaningful moment, sharing that the vehicle reflects what she values at this stage of her life.

“The WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV feels perfectly in tune with my everyday life. Its comfort, spaciousness, and thoughtful design make every journey more relaxed and enjoyable.

“Whether I’m travelling for work, attending meetings, or spending time with my family, the experience feels smooth, calm, and reassuring. That sense of balance and ease is what I truly value.”

Since its launch, the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV has received over 800 bookings within its first week, reflecting strong interest from Malaysian consumers, supported by its competitive positioning and attractive pricing at RM269,800.

Datuk Remy Ishak appointed as GAC Malaysia Brand Ambassador

GAC Malaysia welcomes renowned actor and personality Datuk Remy Ishak as its newest brand ambassador.

Datuk Remy Ishak will join existing ambassador Jack Lim to continue representing the GAC brand as part of the preparations for the launch of two new models: the GAC Emkoo and GAC M8 PHEV.

According to Tan Keng Meng, Chief Executive Officer of Warisan TC Holdings Bhd, “Throughout the initial journey of GAC Malaysia, Jack Lim has played a crucial role in introducing this brand to new audiences.”

“From promoting, selling, and sharing experiences with the GAC GS3 Emzoom, Jack has become more than just an ambassador; he has become a true advocate.”

“We are now excited to welcome Datuk Remy Ishak into the GAC family. Remy brings a unique combination of charisma, professionalism, and influence among Malaysians,” he further stated.

GAC Malaysia also announced a pre-sale campaign for its two new models.

The GAC Emkoo is a C-segment SUV and is the second model assembled as a CKD by GAC after the GS3 Emzoom.

It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbo engine capable of producing 177 PS at 5,500 rpm and 270 Nm at 1,400-5,000 rpm, paired with a seven-speed DCT transmission.

There will be two variants available: the Premium, with an estimated price starting from RM120,000, and the Premium Pro, starting from RM130,000.

The first group of GAC Emkoo owners will receive their units by the end of September 2025, or possibly earlier.

The second model to be launched by GAC Malaysia is the luxurious GAC M8 PHEV MPV.

Fully imported from China, the M8 PHEV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine (190 PS/300 Nm) paired with a two-speed hybrid transmission, a 182 PS/300 Nm electric motor, and a 25.57 kWh battery pack.

Overall, this MPV can generate a total power output of 373 PS and 630 Nm, with acceleration performance of 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds.

On a full tank of fuel, the GAC M8 PHEV can offer a driving range of up to 1,038 km.

There are two variants: the M8 Premium, with an estimated price of RM333,000, and the M8 Luxury variant priced at RM380,000.
