Gentari Go introduces AutoCharge feature to all users

Clean energy solutions company Gentari today announced a major update to its Gentari Go mobile app, bringing the AutoCharge feature to all Gentari Go users alongside a refreshed rewards structure and enhanced security features.

AutoCharge is now available at selected Gentari Direct Current (DC) fast chargers nationwide. After a one-time setup, this feature enables compatible EVs to automatically authenticate by linking the user’s account with their registered vehicle, allowing charging to begin with no app required.

This removes the need for repeated app activation, RFID cards, or QR code scanning, making public charging more accessible across supported vehicle brands and charging locations nationwide.

AutoCharge functions in three simple steps:
1. Plug-in: User connects the DC cable to their EV.
2. Auto-authenticate: Vehicle is automatically verified.
3. Charge: Session begins instantly. No app is needed.

Fadzrul Ahmad, Gentari’s Chief Green Mobility Officer said, “Malaysia’s EV ecosystem is entering a phase where everyday user experience matters as much as infrastructure expansion. AutoCharge removes the need for multiple apps and manual steps, making public charging simpler, faster and more intuitive for EV drivers. The result is exactly what it should be: Plug-in, Charge and Go.”

To mark the launch, the first 500 users who successfully enrol and complete their first AutoCharge session will receive RM10 in Gentari Go credits.

AutoCharge will be rolled out progressively across Gentari’s nationwide network, particularly along key travel corridors and urban locations.

Gentari currently operates more than 600 EV charging points across Malaysia, while the Gentari Go Roaming Hub provides users with access to more than 18,000 charging points across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and India, enabling seamless charging wherever drivers travel.

Details on eligible charging locations, compatible EV models and setup guidance are available on the Gentari Go app and Gentari website.

No additional fees apply; standard charging rates and existing Gentari Go plans or promotions remain unchanged.

Beyond AutoCharge, the Gentari Go app has refreshed its rewards structure and strengthened its security measures.

Existing points earned before 30 June 2026 remain valid until 31 December 2026, while points earned from 1 July 2026 onwards will be valid for 180 days from the date they are earned.

On security, users will be required to verify their mobile number to access Gentari Go credits to better protect user credits and rewards while improving transparency around credit balances and expiry dates.

The updated Gentari Go app is available from 1 July 2026. Drivers can update their app, enrol in AutoCharge, and verify their mobile number in just a few minutes to unlock the latest experience.

You can now automatically charge your EV via EVC’s AutoCharge feature

EV Connection (EVC), via their JomCharge app, has officially rolled out a new AutoCharge feature for its DC fast charging network.

Whilst previously some Chery Omoda E5 users were already able to utilise the function, the registration was manual and involved the user having to come to the EVC office. It was also limited to a few test chargers.

But with the official launch, users can now activate AutoCharge at over 200 supported charging points. With the new feature, EV users simply need to plug the charger into their vehicle. The charger will then automatically recognise the vehicle ID, subsequently triggering the charging.

One more advantage of AutoCharge is that the payment will be automatically billed to the payment card on the JomCharge app after charging.

Chargers that support the new feature can be identified by an AutoCharge sticker. As of now, AutoCharge is open only to Omoda E5 and GAC Aion Y Plus users but according to EVC, it is actively pursuing partnerships with other car brands to allow more EV users to benefit from the feature.

EV users who are interested in activating the AutoCharge feature can simply head to the latest AutoCharge enabled charger which can be located via the AutoCharge filter on the JomCharge app.

Once there, they can activate AutoCharge on the Accounts section in the app and follow the on screen instructions. A more detailed step-by-step guide can be found on EVC’s official YouTube page.
