Hyundai Motor Malaysia celebrates first anniversary, offers various rewards including Stargazer!

Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) is celebrating its first year in the Malaysian market with a three-month sales campaign running from 1 July to 30 September 2026, offering customers enhanced promotions, exclusive prizes, and hands-on experiences across its dealership network.

Yamaha 135LC 20th Anniversary edition launched: Limited to 5,000 units, from RM8,798

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor has introduced the Yamaha 135LC 20th Anniversary Edition for the Malaysian market.

Offered in a strictly limited run of just 5,000 units, the model comes with a special serial number and is available in the Celeste 20th Anniversary Limited Edition colour scheme. Prices start at RM8,798.

In addition, three other eye-catching colours are available—Matador Red, Tank White, and Samba Green—each priced at RM8,298.

Specifications

The Yamaha 135LC is powered by a liquid-cooled 135 cc engine that produces 12.5 hp at 8,000 rpm and 12.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm.

The engine is paired with a four-speed transmission and a final chain-drive system.

Suspension consists of telescopic forks up front and a single shock absorber at the rear, while braking is handled by disc brakes on both wheels. Fuel tank capacity is 4.6 litres, while the seat height stands at 775 mm.

The 135LC model was first introduced in 2006 as the first in its class to be equipped with a liquid-cooled engine.

MG Motor Malaysia celebrates 2nd anniversary and positive growth in Q1 2026

In conjunction with its second anniversary, MG Motor Malaysia is celebrating a stellar performance for the year 2026.

Throughout the first quarter of this year, MG Motor Malaysia successfully sold 807 units of vehicles.

This translates to a 57 percent increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2025, and a 39 percent increase compared to the first quarter of 2025.

This achievement reflects ongoing market interest and growing confidence in the brand.

Additionally, the MG Cyberster has been awarded ‘Performance Car of the Year’ by MARii.

MGS5 EV CKD Launches

In March, MG Motor marked an important milestone with the Launch of the MGS5 EV in the locally assembled (CKD) version at the EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) facility in Melaka.

The CKD version of the MGS5 EV is now available in the Malaysian market at a price of RM116,900.

This electric SUV has received a power upgrade, with the rear-drive electric motor capable of generating up to 202 hp and 350 Nm of torque.

Other features include:

  • 150 kW DC fast charging (10-80 percent in 26 minutes)
  • Power-adjustable front seats with ventilation
  • 62 kWh battery pack
  • Driving range of up to 446 km (WLTP data)
  • Powered tailgate
  • 7 SRS airbags

This model is available for viewing and test drives at all MG showrooms, along with a special promotion worth RM9,000.

MG at KLIMS 2026

MG Motor Malaysia will participate in the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) taking place this year.

Jozef Kaban, Vice President of Global Design for SAIC Motor, will also be present to share insights on design philosophy and the evolution of MG’s global design identity.

The convoy featured media representatives from nine key markets covering a route of 625 kilometers, including the J5 HEV, Omoda 5 HEV, and Jaecoo J7 HEV.

The journey began in Wuhu, traversing through Chaohu Lake and Huoshan, with an overnight stop at Doushahe Hot Spring Town, and a return trip of 309 kilometers along the highway.

Achievements in Malaysia & Globally

In Malaysia, OJ sold over 17,800 vehicles in 2025, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 153 percent, and is expected to surpass a cumulative total of 25,000 units since its debut in 2024.

Globally:

  • OJ is rapidly expanding in 16 European markets, with sales exceeding 220,000 units in two years.
  • It captured over 2 percent market share in the UK within nine months and ranked in the top ten within 17 months.
  • It emerged as the most recognized brand among dealers in Spain, achieving a satisfaction score of 9.9/10 in the 2025 VCON survey.

More Than Just an Automotive Brand

OJ is now more than just a vehicle manufacturer.

Honda Stepwgn celebrates 30th anniversary in Japan

Did you know that the first generation of the Honda Stepwgn minivan was officially launched in May 1996, featuring a simple design aimed at maximizing practicality.

After five generations, the sixth generation of the Stepwgn is making a comeback with a two-box design configuration, boasting a more minimalist aesthetic and the most spacious cabin yet.

In conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Stepwgn next year, Honda Japan has announced a special edition model available in two variants: AIR EX and SPADA.

Both the AIR EX and SPADA variants include features such as:

  • Multi-view camera system
  • Exit support system
  • LED cabin lights
  • Second-row seat heating
  • Adaptive headlight assist
  • 30th anniversary tag
  • 30th anniversary emblem

The differences between the two variants are as follows:

In terms of power, the 2026 Honda Stepwgn is equipped with the e:HEV hybrid powertrain, which consists of a 2.0L i-VTEC engine (143 hp/175 Nm) paired with two electric motors (181 hp/315 Nm).

The total power output reaches 212 hp and 315 Nm, combined with an e-CVT transmission and front-wheel drive system.

For reference, the Honda Stepwgn e:HEV has already entered the neighboring market of Thailand, with estimated prices starting from 1.7 million Baht (RM222,000).

Honda Malaysia announce first two lucky winners of its 25th anniversary campaign

Honda Malaysia shared the joy of its 25th anniversary celebration with the announcement of the first two lucky winners of its “Because of You” campaign.

The prizes of a City Hatchback RS and a WR-V RS were presented at a special appreciation event.

The lucky winner of the City Hatchback RS, Mr. Chin from Perak, entered the contest after purchasing a Platinum White Pearl Civic RS.

He said, “Owning a Civic has always been my dream as I am captivated by its striking appearance and powerful performance that stays true to the Civic DNA. Receiving my new car was already exciting, but winning the City Hatchback RS on top of that makes it even more special. I was shocked when they called to inform that I won – I thought it was scam! Now, I can’t wait to take both my Honda cars out on the road and enjoy the different driving experiences each one has to offer.”

Ms. Ou, who purchased the CR-V as a family car could not be present to personally receive her prize, was presented by her husband, Mr. Liew Jeng Siong, who travelled all the way from Sarawak to claim her lucky draw prize, the WR-V RS.

Sime Motors celebrates 45th anniversary with performance by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra

Sime Motors recently celebrated its 45th anniversary with a performance by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra alongside stakeholders.

The gala dinner showcased world-class music under the baton of renowned conductor Gerald Salonga, featuring pianist Liu Muyu and prominent singer Aina Abdul.

Their performance delighted the audience and added vibrancy to the celebration, which honored the leadership and contributions of Sime Motors over 45 years to the Malaysian automotive industry.

Seiko announces limited edition chronograph watch for Initial D die-hard fans

Seiko, the watch manufacturer has announced the sale of the limited-edition “Initial D x Seiko Collaboration Watch” to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the iconic racing animation.

It is reported that only 1,995 units of this watch will be produced to celebrate the year the comic was first published.

The chronograph watch features a design inspired by Initial D, including a dial that reflects the color scheme of the AE86 car driven by the main character, Takumi Fujiwara.

Additionally, there is a “D” logo (representing Drift and Dream) at the 6 o’clock position, and the Fujiwara Tofu Shop logo at the 4 o’clock position.

The packaging box also showcases a panda-themed color scheme (black and white), featuring the Initial D logo on the outside and an illustration of Takumi and the Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 on the inside.

Each box will also be accompanied by a serial number ranging from 1 to 1,995.

This special watch features a Quartz movement housed in a 47 mm casing, and it is water-resistant up to 10 ATM.

Each Initial D watch is priced at 65,780 yen (approximately RM1,879).

Mitsubishi Malaysia launches Triton Athlete with enhanced features, priced from RM159,980

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is celebrating its 20th anniversary in Malaysia this year.

In conjunction with this milestone, MMM has announced the launch of the upgraded Triton Athlete pickup model, with a starting price of RM159,980.

Unique features of the current Triton Athlete include a stylish front bumper, a sporty bar on the truck bed, tailgate opening assistance, and distinctive decorative patterns.

Additionally, MMM is offering an exclusive, limited-time promotion for Triton Athlete buyers, which includes rewards of up to RM8,000 or a free five-year maintenance package, as well as a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
