2027 Yamaha YZF-R9 officially launched in Malaysia, priced from RM68,000
Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn Bhd has officially launched the 2027 Yamaha YZF-R9 supersport motorcycle in Malaysia.
Available from January 2027, the YZF-R9 is priced from RM68,000, excluding insurance and registration.
It is offered in a single colour option, Icon Blue.
Specifications
The motorcycle is powered by an 890 cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline-three engine, producing 117 hp at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
Its suspension setup comprises a fully adjustable 43 mm KYB upside-down front fork and a fully adjustable rear shock absorber.
The R9 also uses an aluminium frame weighing just 9.7 kg, the lightest ever fitted to a Yamaha supersport model.
Braking hardware includes Brembo Stylema front calipers, while a six-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) supports electronic rider aids such as:
- Traction Control
- Slide Control
- Lift Control
- Brake Control
Yamaha Ride Control allows riders to customise settings to suit different riding conditions.
Launch Control enables quicker, more efficient acceleration from a standstill, making it particularly useful on the track.
A 5-inch TFT display offers four display themes and a dedicated Track mode.
The YZF-R9 also supports the Y-TRAC Rev app, which provides lap timing, riding data analysis and a virtual pit board.
Free and paid plans are available, with the paid plan offering unlimited riding data storage.
