On 10 September, Pro‑Net handed over three Proton e.MAS vehicles to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

The three units comprise the Proton e.MAS 5 Premium, Proton e.MAS 7 Premium, and Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV Premium Plus.

Real‑world capability assessment

PDRM will deploy all three vehicles to evaluate usability, practicality, and charging requirements in real operational conditions.

This initiative will provide clearer insights into how well electric vehicles align with the force’s operational needs.

Throughout the evaluation period, Gentari will also provide complimentary charging services.

Proton Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ir. Abdul Rashid bin Musa, said the joint evaluation with PDRM is an important opportunity to observe how e.MAS vehicles perform in real‑world scenarios, offering a more comprehensive experience than a standard test drive.

“With three models (e.MAS 5, e.MAS 7, and e.MAS 7 PHEV), PDRM will be able to experience the differences between each electric powertrain option and assess their performance and suitability based on operational requirements,” he said.

The evaluation aims to help PDRM understand how EV and PHEV technologies fit the needs of its fleet.

Proton’s e.MAS vehicles have the potential to support PDRM’s daily operational duties, including crime‑prevention patrols, subject to the outcome of the assessment and future government considerations.
