2026 BYD Racco EV debuts in Japan, priced from RM54k
BYD Auto Japan has officially launched the 2026 BYD Racco EV kei car for the Japanese market.
Three variants are offered, with prices ranging from 2,145,000 yen (RM54,000) to 2,497,000 yen (RM62,000).
Dimensions
The BYD Racco EV is designed to meet Japan’s strict kei car regulations.
It measures 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width, 1,800 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. The turning radius is a tight 4.8 metres.
Powertrain
The Racco EV is equipped with a single front-mounted electric motor producing 64 PS and 160 Nm of torque.
Two LFP battery options are available:
- 35.84 kWh with a driving range of 320 km
- 22.40 kWh with a driving range of 210 km per full charge
Charging support includes 6 kW AC, 50 kW DC fast charging, and a battery pre-heating function.
The kei EV also offers Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities up to 1.5 kW.
Chassis & Suspension
The Racco EV rides on a MacPherson strut front suspension paired with a rear torsion-beam setup.
Braking is handled by disc brakes on both axles.
Features
Exterior equipment includes LED lighting, 15‑inch wheels, and hands‑free sliding doors with logo projection.
Inside, the cabin is fitted with a 10.1‑inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, a surround‑view monitoring system, and a baby presence detection feature.
Cargo space is rated at 280 litres, expandable to 1,372 litres. Additional storage compartments are provided, along with a cupholder heating function.
