2025 Proton X50 facelift: What you need to know

Proton has announced a comprehensive update for the B-segment SUV model, the 2025 X50.

Unlike its predecessors, the heavily facelifted X50 now features a distinctly different appearance on the exterior, a revamped cockpit, and, notably, a more powerful engine offering.

Here are some key details about the 2025 X50 facelift:

1. Engine

Say goodbye to the three-cylinder engine; the X50 facelift now comes equipped with a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine.

It delivers a power output of 181 PS and 290 Nm, transmitted to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

The acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is now as quick as 7.6 seconds, all while offering 4.7 percent improved fuel efficiency.

2. Stylish Exterior

The Proton X50 facelift boasts a refreshed front and rear design with new headlight units, taillights, bumpers, spoilers, and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

Four existing colors are available (Snow White, Passion Red, Jet Grey, and Armour Silver), along with a new color option: Teal Bayou Green.

3. More Elegant Cabin

In the cabin, the dashboard layout has been completely redesigned, featuring a smaller cluster screen and a 14.6-inch infotainment screen that now supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

The center area is more spacious and includes a wireless charging slot for smart devices, as the gear shift lever has been relocated to the steering column.

Additional features include ambient lighting with 72 color options, a central console with under-storage space, and voice commands now supporting the Malay language.

4. Enhanced ADAS

The safety features of the Proton X50 have been upgraded with an improved Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that includes the following functions:

  • Rear Side Radar System (RSRS)
  • Automatic Parking Assistance (APA) with a 360-degree HD camera
  • 180-degree under-vehicle transparent display

More details will be announced in the near future.
