Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Pro is Affalterbach’s newest track weapon


The lineup of the second generation Mercedes-AMG GT has been further expanded with the introduction of a new variant known as the GT 63 Pro 4Matic+.
Specifically designed for those who occasionally indulge in high-speed driving at the track, the GT 63 Pro can be distinguished by larger air intakes and carbon fibre air deflectors around the intakes.
Similar to the Mercedes-AMG One, this car also features additional air deflectors on the underbody to help accelerate the airflow in the area.
Combined with the Airpanel active air control system in the front apron and the fixed rear wing, Mercedes has managed to reduce the aerodynamic lift on the front axle by 30 kg and increase downforce on the rear axle by around 15 kg.
The car also comes with a carbon fibre package and 21-inch AMG Performance wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres sized 295/30 at the front and 305/30 at the rear. Customers can opt for the stickier Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres at no additional cost.
Most of the interior is kept standard, but for the Pro, Mercedes has thrown in AMG Performance seats and an AMG Performance steering wheel wrapped in Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre.
The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine develops 612 PS and 850 Nm in the Pro, an increase of 27 PS and 50 Nm over the non-Pro GT 63.
With the AMG Speedshift nine-speed transmission and the 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system, it only takes 3.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h and can reach a maximum speed of 312 km/h.
To ensure it can perform on the track without any issues, Mercedes has added two additional radiators in the wheel arches to help cool the powertrain.
In addition, there is an active cooling system for the front and rear differentials, and revised brake cover plates to channel more air to the brakes.
Speaking of brakes, the GT 63 Pro is equipped with 420-mm brake discs on the front axle, which are currently the largest standard ceramic brake discs available from Mercedes-AMG.
