Honda CRF1150L Africa Twin 2027 09

Honda introduced the 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin at EICMA 2026 bringing increased engine displacement, reduced weight and new rider-assistance technology.

Replacing the CRF1100L, the new generation was developed under the concept of “Shaped by You. True Adventure for All.”, with a focus on performance, balance and ease of handling.

Three variants are offered:

  • Africa Twin
  • Africa Twin Adventure Sports
  • Africa Twin Enduro Sports

Distinctive styling for each variant

The standard Africa Twin retains its signature “Twin Eyes” headlights, now featuring a smaller, sharper design and a simple, functional body layout.

The Adventure Sports adopts a more substantial appearance, emphasising wind protection and long-distance comfort.

The new Enduro Sports variant draws inspiration from the CRF450 RALLY, with “CRF streamline” body lines flowing from the front fender to the rear to highlight its rally character.

Engine and chassis specifications

The Honda CRF1150L Africa Twin uses a 1,131 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, producing 117 hp at 7,500 rpm and 119 Nm of torque at 5,700 rpm.

The engine has been revised, including improvements to the intake and exhaust systems, along with revised gear ratios, for better acceleration and riding comfort.

The new frame and swingarm feature a revised rigidity balance, with a combined weight reduction of 1.4 kg compared with the previous generation.

An auxiliary fuel tank beneath the seat lowers the centre of gravity to improve control and handling at low speeds.

Suspension setup

The Africa Twin and Adventure Sports variants use Showa EERA electronically controlled suspension with Honda Skyhook control.

The system monitors motorcycle movement in real time and continuously adjusts damping to reduce unwanted body movement.

Meanwhile, the Enduro Sports receives front suspension with specifications equivalent to those of the CRF450 RALLY, which competes in the Dakar Rally.

Highlighted equipment includes:

  • An electrically adjustable windscreen on the standard Africa Twin
  • A Honda Smart Key system on the standard Africa Twin
  • A 24-litre fuel tank on the Adventure Sports
  • A 19-inch front wheel on the Adventure Sports
  • A large windscreen on the Adventure Sports
  • A silver-and-black Honda Flagship WING emblem

The series also offers six preset riding modes, coordinating power delivery, traction control, ABS, DCT and electronically controlled suspension according to each variant’s equipment.

Honda SENSING RIDE

The Africa Twin Adventure Sports becomes the first Honda motorcycle to offer Honda SENSING RIDE, available on the Adventure Sports DCT variant.

Using millimetre-wave radar at the front and rear, the system provides functions including:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • ACC with Stop & Go
  • Group Ride Assist for group riding
  • Distance Assist
  • Forward Collision Warning
  • Emergency Brake Assist
  • Blind Spot Information
  • Rear Distance Information
  • Rear Collision Warning

Use of sustainable materials

Honda also uses more sustainable materials, including chemically recycled acrylic and nylon, plant-derived DURABIO™ plastic for the windscreen and deflectors, and recycled materials for bodywork components and seat bases.
