Tesla Cybercab makes Malaysian debut, no steering wheel or pedals
Tesla Malaysia recently showcased the Tesla Cybercab at a preview held at Mid Valley Megamall.
Essentially a two-door self-driving taxi, the Cybercab does away with conventional driving equipment.
Tesla first unveiled the Cybercab in October 2024.
Specifications
The Cybercab adopts an exterior design broadly similar to Tesla’s existing Model Y and Model 3.
Full-width LED light bars feature at both ends, with the rear using indirect illumination.
The vehicle features wide-opening butterfly doors, paired with 18-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels.
Cargo capacity is 572 litres.
Inside, the cabin accommodates two bench-style seats and a 21-inch display, which passengers can use to:
- Open or close the doors
- Start a journey
- Adjust cabin temperature and seat settings
- Play music
Passenger amenities include USB Type-C charging ports and two physical switches for opening and closing the windows.
As mentioned earlier, the Cybercab does away with conventional driving controls and features, including:
- A steering wheel
- Accelerator and brake pedals
- Side mirrors
- A rear window
According to documents filed with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Cybercab uses a single electric motor producing 219 hp, driving the front wheels.
Its 47.6 kWh battery pack recorded a range of 673 km in unadjusted laboratory testing on a full charge.
The Cybercab runs Full Self-Driving version 15, which is not currently available in customer-owned Tesla vehicles.
