2026 GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV officially launched in Malaysia – priced at RM249,800
GWM Malaysia has officially announced the arrival of the GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV luxury MPV in the Malaysian market.
The launch of the self-charging hybrid (HEV) variant follows the success of the WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV, which has recorded 2,000 vehicle deliveries nationwide.
Priced at RM249,800, the WEY G9 Hi4 HEV offers a seven-seat configuration, an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, and a range of premium features.
Powertrain
The GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with the intelligent Hi4 hybrid system.
The combined powertrain produces a total output of 358 PS and 782 Nm of torque.
Power is delivered through the electronically controlled Hi4 all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
The hybrid system automatically manages power distribution between the petrol engine and electric motors according to driving conditions.
Unlike the PHEV variant, the HEV system does not require external charging.
Fuel consumption is rated at approximately 6.5 litres per 100 km based on the NEDC testing cycle.
The MPV also offers a combined driving range of up to 845 km.
Features and Equipment
The GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV features a seven-seat cabin arranged in a 2+2+3 configuration.
It is also equipped with a flexible seat rail system, a spacious central aisle, and third-row seats that can be folded forward.
Boot capacity starts at 233 litres and can be expanded to 1,725 litres.
The HEV variant retains many of the premium features found in the PHEV variant, including:
- Premium Nappa leather upholstery
- Second-row captain’s chairs with Zero Gravity functionality
- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
- HALOSonic active noise cancellation system
In terms of safety, the HEV variant offers a similar level of equipment to the PHEV, including a 360-degree camera system and 16 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions, such as:
- Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC)
- Lane Change Assist (LCA)
- Blind Spot Detection (BSD)
- Traffic Jam Assist (TJA)
- Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
- Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB)
- Door Opening Warning (DOW)
- Secondary Collision Mitigation System
The WEY G9 Hi4 HEV is available in three exterior colour options: Aurora White, Wisdom Grey, and Nebula Black.
Inside, the MPV features a black interior colour scheme complemented by a grey headliner.
Pricing and Warranty
The GWM WEY G9 Hi4 HEV is officially priced at RM249,800 in Malaysia.
Each purchase includes five years of complimentary vehicle telematics services and a GWM Touch ‘n Go RFID tag.
To celebrate the launch, GWM Malaysia is offering an introductory financing package with interest rates as low as 0.08% through selected participating banks.
Buyers will also receive RM5,000 in trade-in support and five years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, covering both labour and parts, valued at RM11,200.
In terms of warranty coverage, the WEY G9 Hi4 HEV comes with:
- Six-year vehicle warranty with unlimited mileage
- Eight-year or 180,000 km warranty for the high-voltage battery
- Eight-year or 180,000 km warranty for the electric drive motor and electric motor control unit
