2026 Nissan Leaf already faces issues before it even hits the market
Before it could even be assembled and sold globally, the new generation 2026 Nissan Leaf has reportedly encountered problems.
According to a report by Reuters citing Kyodo News, Nissan is forced to cut the production of the new Leaf due to export restrictions on rare earth metals imposed by China.
These restrictions have impacted the supply of components necessary for Leaf production.
In addition to Nissan, the export limitations set by China are also affecting several automotive manufacturers, including Ford and Suzuki.
The third generation of the Nissan Leaf was introduced last month, marking a shift from its traditional hatchback design to an electric crossover that shares the same AmpR Medium platform as the Nissan Ariya EV.
The 2026 Nissan Leaf will also be the first Nissan model to adopt the NACS (North America Charging System) charging standard, making it compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network.
